SyFy's Heroes of Cosplay Causes Controversy

SyFy Channel's latest reality show, Heroes of Cosplay, has been fanning the flames of controversy amongst viewers, since it began airing on the channel just three weeks ago. From the get go the fans have not liked that it focuses so much on the competitive aspect of cosplaying or that it has the drama inherent to most reality shows. They also seem to complain about the fact that it focuses so much on sexy and beautiful women, who cosplay. The flames have been fanned even higher now thanks to a photographer who is threatening to sue the show.

Let's begin with the whole photographer aspect. Darrell Ardita of BGZ Studios, the photographer in question. He claims that SyFy used his pics on the show without his permission. SyFy defended their stance at first, but eventually recanted this and pushed the blame on to the cosplayers, something Ardita claims that he never wanted to occur. His words on this:

Very soon after my response, SyFy did the unthinkable. They turned it around and started attacking the cosplayers in question – which was completely not my intention. SyFy threatened to compromise the careers of the cosplayers featured in the show. Reality TV production at its best.
Everyone needs to know this – the VAST MAJORITY of the cosplayers on the show have forwarded all photographer information over to the studio along with the photographs since BEFORE the show aired. Yes, I do have proof of that too. These people are not stupid – I respect them very much and most of them did 100% the right thing.
The people at fault are those who made the decision to not contact the photographers and still proceed with the show.

You can read more of his thoughts here:

Popular cosplayer, Nelson D. Martinez, who has been featured on this blog quite a few times, has this to say on the subject of cosplaying photograph ownership:

In regards to this whole photographer sueing Heroes of Cosplay, or SyFy, for not crediting him for the photos, I do understand most of what he is saying, but besides stating an actual Law, he is also, stating his style, and how he, personally thinks rights should or shouldn't be, between Cosplayers, and Photographers. What he states, doesn't hold true, to all Models, Cosplayers, and/ or Photographers. I personally wouldn't work with anyone, who tells me, that I have no rights at all to do what I want with the photos, that I myself, have also worked hard on. I always credit my photographers, but they do give me equal rights to do as I wish with the photographs. My advice to Cosplayers and Models, work with people you know, and trust, not someone who your not really sure what their style or intentions are.
Martinez, in his X-Force Deadpool cosplay, and myself at last year's NYCC.

I have to fully agree with what Martinez says. While, writing is my prime job, I do shoot pics myself, frequently, for this site and my Facebook fan page. I also work with various photographers and video-men and women. All of them get credit here. Just look at my Master's Minions page, for further proof. And, of course all models, cosplayers, etc get their credit, as well. But, like Nelson said work with people you trust and/ or know. This goes for all aspects of the entertainment business.
Picture I took of Riki, aka Riddle, at the 2011 NYCC. She is one of the cosplayers featured on the show.

As to the show, itself, well, I missed the first episode, but I caught the last two. I like the show. Let's start with the competitive aspect of the show: almost all conventions have cosplaying contests nowadays. It's common place. Having it be the focus of the show is obviously done so that it gives the show some drama. It's needed, for the sake of TV, whether we like or not. I admit that some of what is shown might make some of the cosplayers look bad. I have seen Yaya Han, on her Twitter and Facebook fan page, state that the editing is what causes. And, well who is to say that that ain't the case? After all, drama causes people to watch, for better or for worse. Is right or wrong? Well, I don't think that question matters to the channel. As to the sex aspect, hey sex sells. This blog is spawned from that. People like looking at gorgeous women in skimpy outfits. That's the way the world works, more so the entertainment world. Perhaps, a great documentary is needed on cosplayer. This ain't it, though. This is reality TV. And, as it is; it's still light years ahead of shit like the WWE inspired Total Divas or whatever other filth infests E!, MTV, etc.
Monika Lee, the youngest girl on the show, and the one to wear the skimpiest outfits. The above cosplay is a Poison Ivy one she wore on last week's episode. Oh, and I didn't take the above or bottom pic.

This is Nelson's thoughts on the show and the misconceptions of cosplayers that it may have inspired among viewers:

I would just like to say a few words, and this is for Everyone! Many of us may dislike the Heroes of Cosplay show, for whatever the reason may be, many feel it may not show what many of us are actually capable of, or may not show a certain personality that we either have or don't have. But before you Knock any individuals, you need to know many of them, and us, give back more than you know, and or see. Riddle's Messy Wardrobe, Yaya Han and many others, run a Charitable Calendar, Cosplay for a Cause, they started it awhile back, and it helps many of the Victims in Japan, which I donated to. Some of you think that because some of us don't actually have the time of day to visit a Hospital for Children, means we haven't gave back, that's a misconception. I myself have served a tour in Iraq, and I've been serving in the U.S. Army for over 6 years and still going. There are many Veterans that I personally know that are in the Cosplay Community, but many of you, aren't aware they even exist, like I said, know someone, before you choose to bash or knock them, for doing their thing. We all like to have fun, I don't care who you are or how old you are, so don't act like You, are any better than anyone else.

We shall see where this controversy leads in the coming days and months, but I think, I hope, we can agree, at the very least, that is nice to see cosplayers getting some sort of mention on TV. And not just the random mention of them at a convention.

Hot Asian Girl of the Month: Tila Tequila

While, I have talked about and covered Tila Tequila, many, many times, here; I have never made her the Hot Asian of the Month, believe it or not. And, so this June 2010, I correct that. After all, June is the beginning of summer and few women are as fucking hot as Miss Tila.

Born on September 24, 1981 in Singapore to Vietnamese parents, Tila Nguyen, moved to Texas with her family when she was one. She had a rough and violent childhood, which led her to move to California where she sought out modeling.

Tila began her career with pics for Playboy. She also did import racing modeling, but Tila wanted more. She hosted Pants-Off Dance-Off a bunch of times as well, appearing in magazines like Penthouse, Stuff, and Maxim.

Coupled with her ever growing internet popularity, Tila's star grew bigger and bigger. She would become the girl with the most friends on Myspace, and, eventually her own multiple sites, and Facebook and Twitter, as well.

Tila also had her own reality TV show, A Shot of Love with Tila Tequila, but like most things Tila related, I have talked a lot about that. She has also been on some other TV shows and a movie, put out her own book (which is where I met her), and she's a singer, too. She will return to reality TV when she appears on the next season of Celebrity Rehab.

I doubt anything like this will happen there:

She is all over the media and gossip talks all the time. Regardless, what you make think of this, there is no denying that she knows how to catch the attention of the press. And, well, with an ass and a pair of tits like hers, it's hard not to. Tila is a naughty little hottie, so this is an example of a celeb I don't mind getting attention. In fact, when there are hot paparazzi pics me, and my pants, are quite happy!

For example of pant inducing happiness just watch her shake her sexy behind, which is always nice:

Tila has been going through rough times and not everything in recent months has been great (the saddest of which was the death of her finance Casey Johnson) or even made a whole lot of sense (was she pregnant? didn't she want to adopt?!). But, hopefully the bad stuff is behind her.

By the way, if she needs yet another career, maybe she could be a teacher. I know I would be hot for her (hmm, actually I already am!), for sure!

She started her own celeb gossip site, and it seems like it's doing quite well for her. In fact, she closed her old twitter account and opened up one just for her it.

Anyways, as I said, there is a ton of stuff on her all over this blog, so just do a little research here. No need to bore you with any more details, when, I know you just want more Tila hotness. At least I know I do! And, don't act like you don't want the same, otherwise you wouldn't be reading this, right?

Beautiful, sexy, naughty, and bisexual, Tila is one of my utmost personal fav babes. With her beautiful face, sexy smile, infectious laugh, hot legs, great ass, and nice rack, Tila fucking rulz.

Showtime's Deeper Throat

I been watching the new reality TV series Deeper Throat, on Showtime since it premiered on Fed. 14th (yes, Valentine's Day, at least something good came out of that shitty day...) and been enjoying it greatly.

Now, I first heard of it thanks to one of my fav blogs to read, Genesis Online. The show deals with Vivid Video trying to remake the porn classic Deep Throat . Now, I never seen the original, and who knows, if I ever will. But, any porn fan knows how important that film is to the adult biz. Anyways, Steve Hirsch, the owner of Vivid, tries to get the rights, then has his main director, Paul Thomas (aka PT) make it. The owner of the rights to Deep Throat is none to happy, but agrees to let it be made. Still, he wants to make his own version.

Meanwhile, PT starts to look for the lead girl, as it has been decided that it should not be a Vivid girl. The girl needs to be able deep throat (duh!), but also be able to carry a film. It ends up being the gorgeous, and one this blog's most beloved babes, Sasha Grey who, and rightfully so, gets the lead role.

Along the way, we see the lovely and naturally breasted Hanna Hilton join Vivid Video, as well as former Miss USA, the pretty Kelli McCarthy . By the way, anyone see Kelli's film? If so please tell me your thoughts.

And, of course there is all the drama that reality TV thrives on. Problems with script, troubles with the owner of Deep Throat, and other moments that add to the show. As you would expect to see there are lots of hot, naked babes in the show, but one that really stood out, well at least outside of the Vivid girls or Sasha, is Sarah Vandella . She comes off as having a lot of attitude (might be cause this babe is form right here in NYC!). I loved the scene where shes tries out for the lead, but tells PT that she does not act only fucks! Ahh, what a goddess! But, her attitude gets to much and in the last episode, that they aired, she gets kicked off the set, as PT gets way pissed off. I am sure the fact that the guy sent by the owner of the original film, tped his car did not help!

In all this is a fascinating show for those interested in seeing how a major porn film is made. But, it is also really fun and entertaining. I think that is is probably one of the best reality shows in a while. And, hey let's be honest the hot naked babes help! Check it out if you ain't done so, yet!

Random Hotness III: Hotness on Earth

It's been a while since I did one of these, but good things come to those who wait. Besides, I was not feeling that great and had to do something fun, considering I ended up staying in.

I been totally into Asa Akira since I met her at Exxxoctia NY. But there ain't a whole lot on her as she is fairly new to the biz. That said, she is a NY babe (yay!), and I do like her myspace. But more importantly, I found this vid of Nadia Nice interviewing her and them kissing! I greatly approve of it! Plus, I think she may have a thing for Italian guys. Score!

Asa , please marry me!!!!!!!

Speaking of porn stars I had the pleasure of meeting at Exxxotica, Sasha Grey is going to be in a mainstream film! She is to be the lead star in Steven Soderbergh’s The Girlfriend Experience. In it, she will play a call girl. Soderbergh is a talented and respected director who made such good, quality films as Traffic and Out of Sight. Plus, she's already been featured in vids for the Smashing Pumpkins and Dave Navarro, as well as small roles in Quit and Smash Cut, a Canadian horror film. Sasha was so fucking cool in person, is a total natural beauty , and yours truly wishes her the best, and hope she succeeds. Oh, and be sure to check out her myspace; it's a really good one!

Man, Adurina Patridge is gorgeous! For those who have no clue who she is, she is, by far, the hottest babe on the ever craptacular MTV "reality (and I use that term loosely) show" The Hills. Now, before you have some kanipfit over me mentioning this show, let me clear this:

I do NOT and will NEVER watch this crap, but I would be a fool or have no taste in women, not to admit how hot she is. Audrina has a smoking HOT body, beautiful eyes, nice rack, and, she seems like she might be a pretty nice person. Ms. Partridge is featured in this month's Maxim (I ain't got the issue in the mail yet, sadly), and the pics I seen are SWEET! Plus, she is starring in the remake to House on Sorority Row . Now, I never seen the original (but I do plan to), but the remake has potential. It was shot with an R-rating in mind, and not only does it have Audrina, but it has another fav of this blog: Jamie Chung!!!!! Damn! That's twice the babeness! While, I doubt there will be hot girl-on-girl love between them (but hey, a guy can dream, right?), their combined presence, should be worth the price of admittance alone!

Finally, one of my fav shows on TV has to be Manswers on Spike TV. It always has the important type of answers I need in my life! And, well the most recent episode had an answer which combined three of the greatest Bs, ever: beer, boobs, and babes!

Beer it seems, makes a babe's boobs bigger, or at least that is what this says:

Maybe, that's why this cutie has these HUGE beer glasses!

Hot Asian Girl of the Month: Jamie Chung

Beautiful Jamie Chung was born April 10, 1983 in San Fransisco. This stunning beauty is of Korean descent.

She began her career on The Real World: San Diego , which was from the fourteenth season. Please, don't ask me how this show is still on, but Jamie would then go on to appear on Real World/ Road Rules Challenge: The Inferno II. No, I have never seen nor will ever sit and watch any of this fucking crap. But, hey, it started Jamie's career! So let us be thankful for that!

She also did some appearances on three episodes of Days of Our Lives, as a Hooters girl in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (by the way that film also has a cameo by a fav of this blog, Tila Tequila, so it might be time I see this shit), as well as an episode of CSI: New York and, one of my fav TV shows of all time, Veronica Mars.

Here are two smoking hot videos of Jamie . In both, she comes off as fun, sexy, and utterly and completely stunningly beautiful. I think I am be in love, and I predict you will be, too!

She talks a little bit about herself. And, she says has little time to meet a guy, due to work. Heart breaker!

On this one she tells her that some ex-BF is an asshole and has a small dick! Guys why would you be an asshole and break this girl's heart? Plus, she reveals that she loves to drink (my kind of girl!)

I think her big break is coming up, though. She is staring in the upcoming Fox Family mini-series Samurai Girl . The show will begin to air on September 5th.

Now I have to be honest, I saw the longer trailer when I went to see Hellboy II: The Golden Army and The Dark Knight (on a side note, both these films rule, if you seen them yet, what the fuck are you waiting for?). And, well usually, this is the type of crap i could care less about, but put Jamie in it, and well, I am so gonna watch this! I promise to share my thoughts with you all! Said, TV show also features former WCW/ WWE star turned Dancing with the Stars chick Stacy Keebler. But, she is not even visible in any trailer. Does not matter cause Jamie is hotter than Stacy, I think. And, I could give a flying fuck about Keebler outside of the wrestling ring.

Jamie will also be seen in the upcoming Dragonball Z live-action movie. She will be playing Chi-Chi , a role she was clearly born to play. I used to be really into the cartoon series (got into it when I was sick bed years ago), but with so much to watch, I sort of gave up watching the TV show. That said, I have a soft spot for the show. But, I have very low expectations for this movie. But, hey with Jamie in it and James (Buffy's Spike) Marsters playing Piccolo, you know I will be seeing this!

I really hope that Jamie gets more popular. I hope see more of her (both figuratively and literally) . With her beautiful face , smoking hot body , and likable personality, she is a goddess to watch.
