WinterCon 2023

The weekend of December 2&3, 2023 marked the latest edition of one of my personal favorite conventions: WinterCon! Of course, I was on hand, on that Saturday, to cover it all for you guys, as well as have a great time, all while wearing my Rick Flag cosplay once again.

The first thing I did was go up to the two cast members of the always fun to watch  Jaws 2, Gigi Morgan and Gary Springer. As a fan of this movie, they were the two I was most excited to meet. As I have said in the past on here, my stuff was in storage (if anyone cares I finally have my stuff back). So, that meant that my Blu-Ray copy of this sequel wasn't with me. I had to buy it on 4K that very Friday. Anyway, I got it signed and got pics with them. They were both so incredibly nice and friendly and were a great way to start my day with legit awesomeness!

The only other autograph that I got that day was from the legendary Larry Hama, He is the longest running and most famous writer of the G.I. Joe comic, as well as the file cards from the back of the original A Real American Hero toy-line. This was the second time meeting him in just a couple of weeks, since I was at a signing for the release of issue #301, which marked his return to G.I. Joe, at Forbidden Planet the month before. As a lifelong G.I. Joe fan meeting him, however many times is both awesome and an honor. Also, he is super nice in person. This time around he signed a facsimile of the first issue of the comic. He also told he that when he broke into comics he wanted to write cartoon humor stuff and never imagined himself doing a military comic! Mind blown!

But, there was a ton more of cool sites to see, including, of course, lots of cosplay. Here are some of the favorite things I saw that day:

I actually got to partake in another DC photoshoot. Where I got to photograph a throwdown between Dr. Fate and the Flash! This is actually one of my favorites that I shot this con. 

Finally, I got some great deals including, one dealer who was trying to get rid of his NECA figures, so he sold him at $20! Even more awesome was one dude who was selling and trying to get rid of G.i. Joe Classified figures. So, he sold ANY that he had at $10 each to me! Honest to God, if he had more, that I didn't already have and wanted (he had some from the Snake-Eyes movie, but I don't collect that sub-line), I would've bought a shit more!

I had so much fun, cosplayed, met some great celebs, and got kick ass deals. What more could one ask for? I already can't wait for the next edition of WinterCon!

Chiller Theatre: October 2023

On the weekend of October 27-29, was the latest of the October Chiller Theatre. My friends and I went on that Saturday the 26th and had, of course, an absolute blast! The weather was beautiful, being a very oddly warm day for late October.

The first person that I went up was the lovely Deborah Rennard. One of her best known roles is playing the bad girl in the Jean Claude Van Damme movie Lionheart. I had a big crush on her after seeing that flick, so I was really excited to meet her. She was awesome in person too, being all smiles and very grateful. This made a great way to beginning to what would be an awesome day at Chiller!

After that, friend Alan and I went to see our friend and scream queen extraordinaire Tiffany Shepis, who haven't seen in years, since the last Chiller that she was at way back in 2008. It was grea to chat and catch up with her. It is also awesome to see her in a major production like Star Trek: Picard. We talked about Trek, being on The Last Drive-In, and much more, including her even joking around about me buying a lot of stuff at this con while still being between homes not being the best of ideas! She is so sweet, genuine, and awesome, and it was just wonderful to see and talk to her again after too many years.

Up next for me were one of the people I was most excited to meet this time around at Chiller, the gorgeous Darlene (Back to the Future II, Pacific Blue) Vogel. I had the absolute biggest crush on her after seeing BTOTF2, and I got to tell her just that. She was all smiles and gave me two bigs hugs, as well as telling me she had a crush on one of the guys in Biff's gang while shooting the fan favorite movie. Vogel is still stunning and might be the most awesome celeb I met that for the first time that day, which is a saying a lot!

One actor I met and didn't get a pic with but did get his autograph was Nobert Weisser. He played Norwegian #1 in John Carpenter's masterpiece The Thing. Having recently gotten Carpenter's autograph at New York Comic Con (more on that in a future post!), I have decided to get as many signatures on my recently purchased 4K of what is my favorite Carpenter movie, as possible. 

By this point we were hungry and decided to get lunch. I also took this chance to shoot a pic of my friend Nelson and his girlfriend, who did an awesome Joker dou cosplay!

The last celeb I went up to was the other one that was at top of my must meet list this time around: Dedee (The Horror Show, Vamp) Pfeiffer. She is afterall, a Horror Crush inductee, and an awesome and beautiful actress, that I have been a long time fan of. I actually recently saw Vamp for the the first time ever, and I enjoyed the hell out of it! Which I made sure to let her know. In person, she was a total sweetheart, down to earth and just plain awesome. Oh and if you are wondering why I switched from my a Killer Klowns from Outer Space long-sleeve (which I got at HotTopic.com, if you must know) to my Fright-Rags Lucio Fulci's City of the Living Dead, it's cause it had gotten hot as balls by this point in the day.

After having some dinner we went back to the hotel for the party. We didn't stay too late, but we still had a fucking blast and saw some great cosplays and cool sites. Here are a few of my favorites. Oh and again if you are wondering, I switched back to my long-sleeve cause it got a cooler by nightfall.

My phone acted up on me, but other than the crap lighting, this seems fitting enough, also a great chance to wish you all a very HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

New York Comic Con 2022: Saturday

Saturday is usually the biggest day at New York Comic Con (NYCC), and I was ready for to be just that. It ended up being even bigger on Sunday, but I didn't know that at the time. All I knew was I was gonna have a blast and debut my new Logan cosplay. It's based on his look from X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Said movie, well it isn't good, to say the least. But, I love the look and thought it would be fun to do a different cosplay of a character, that I had already done before (another first for me!). Spoiler alert: It was!

The only other thing I actually knew was that the very first thing that I was doing was meet Alex Vincent, who played Andy Barclay in the Child's Play/ Chucky franchise. As a huge fan of said franchise, I was excited to finally meet him. He was really nice and very humble. This was the case even as I gushed about being a fan of the movies ever since I was a kid (on a side note, I'm totally wearing Chucky PJs, coincidently might I add, while I write this), like the geek that I am. Anyway, the resulting pic is one of my favorites ever!

After that I went to the Topps booth to see what Garbage Pail Kids product they had. And, imagine my joy when I saw their mascot Adam Bomb! I thought this was one of the coolest things I saw all week!!

I would come back later that day, to this booth, to get this year's edition of the Garbage Pail Kids: Oh! The Horror! card set with two exclusive cards.

And, now for some of my favorite cosplays from this Saturday:

Cosplayer Heather Marie's Doctor Octopus was so awesome! That made me so so very flattered when she called me Logan after seeing my cosplay. I simply had to get a pic with her. Which led to someone asking if Logan could catch COVID (being I had  face mask on). We joked about it, but yeah, that's a good question. Can he catch the corona virus? Let me know what you think is the answer in the comments section below. 

This simple but cool take on the Captain America shield, by making into a Metallica- Master of Puppets shield is really one of my favorite cosplays/ things I saw at the con. I mean this fucking rules! As does Metallica!

People seemed to really like my cosplay, which added to the fun for me. Saturday really was a blast and was huge, but little did I know that the next and last day would be the biggest!
