Update for Feb. 2014

Since, I had a couple of things I wanted to talk about I figured, I would tackle them all in a brand new update post.

This month is both Women in Horror Recognition Month and Black Metal History Month!! I have long supported the women in horror, be they actresses, directors, producers, etc. I absolutely love that this month pays tribute to them. So, hats off and hail to the women who make our genre as amazing as it is. They add so much to the it and deserve the recognition.
The still gorgeous Kate Hodge from Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III and She-Wolf of London (the TV series), whom I met at Chiller Theatre the day before Sandy hit the East Coast in 2011
The stunning Barbara Nedeljáková who was one of the women I ranked in the 10 Hottest Women to Ever Appear in Horror Movies.
The beautiful film-making duo of the Twisted Twins, Sylvia and Jen Soska, whom I met last year at NYCC. I have interviewed them and professed my love for their movies many times here. They truly encompass the best of women in horror.

As for Black Metal Month, Metal Injection are doing a kick ass job posting articles on this most extreme form of music. I got into black metal slowly, starting with the more mainstream Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir and getting more and more into the sub-genre as time went by. It's become one of my favorite styles in metal, with bands like Watain, Chthonic, Emperor, Mayhem, Dissection, and Bathory being my personal favorites. I still love CoF and Dimmu, but admit ably their last few efforts have left me feeling either thinking it was awful (the last Dimmu) or thinking it's just OK (mostly anything from the last few years of CoF).

Black metal is a fascinating music, not only because it so extreme, butause of the all the shit that has happened in the scene, murders, church burnings, etc. It's rich history derived from acts like Mercyful Fate, Venom, Celtic Frost, and Bathory (to me the first true black metal act), is interesting to study all in on it's own. Right now, I am listening to Carpathian Forest- Fuck You All!!! This is angry and dark music that is just perfect for me right now.

Here are some black metal videos/ songs for you to enjoy:

Now, I would like mention just how AWESOME Arrow is this season!! It's doing everything right, unlike Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It's added so many great characters from the comics, albeit made to fit it's more real world style. Deathstroke, Black Canary, Nyssa Al Ghoul, etc. The last two had a lesbian relationship!! Lesbians!! Yes! Clearly, they want me to worship and love this show. Which I do! And, I do so more and more each week, in fact!

Finally, I want to say that this month is Toy Fair. Now, I should be there covering it on Tuesday the 18th. This will probably be the only day I will be there, but I always enjoy covering it. I love toys, after all. And, I just CANNOT wait to see what new Pop! figures from Funko are coming out!! As some of you know, I am so addicted to them!

My favorite pic of last year's event, as Kristin and I got our pic taken with this kick ass skeleton! Which me leads me this question: What is he from? If you know please tell me! He was too fucking cool!
