Femalien: Cosmic Crush Star Jillian Janson Featured On Film's T-Shirt

The upcoming erotic sci-fi movie from Full Moon Features showcases the extra-terrific talents of Jillian.

While the movie is scheduled to make its debut in April 2020, merchandise promoting the film has begun rolling out. Horror Crush: Angela Featherstone

Today's Horror Crush induction is a stunning and many times overlooked beauty: Angel Featherstone! She has at least two memorable horror roles and hopefully, this will contribute to her getting more recognition, from you, my loyal readers and friends!
Featherstone was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on April 3, 1965, making her 52 years old. She has done a lot of movies and is probably best known from her TV roles on shows like Friends and Girls, stuff I would not be caught dead watching.
On the other hand, it is her second movie role that might be her most famous in the genre. That being the girl that Ash (Bruce Campbell) plants a kiss on at the end of Sam Raimi's Army of Darkness (1992). I remember seeing this in the movies and thinking, ''Damn. That chick is hot!'' One look at Featherstone and you can see that she has such stunning and beautiful eyes!
 
As cool as that bit role was, it's her next one that is her most memorable to me, as well as her best film. And, sorry to any AoD fans, I like that movie, but do not love it... Anyways, it is the Full Moon horror romantic horror flick Dark Angel: The Ascent (1995). 
In it, she plays a demon named Veronica. She dreams of leaving hell, even if doing so is considered blasphemy. But, she does, along with her faithful dog Hellraiser. She finds love with a handsome doctor, and at the same time discovers the evils of this world. When she does she decides to go vigilante and slaughter their asses.
 
Dark Angel: The Ascent is one of Full Moon's best films. I love how well it mixes romance, splatter, and the vigilante film alongside of talks of theology and religion. It's a solid, funny, sexy, and, at times, shockingly gory flick

Featherstone is really good in her role. She perfectly mixes humor, sexiness, sympathy, innocence, and menace. It is a complex role, and she is more than up to it. Of course, she looks fucking gorgeous, throughout! It would be easy to fall in love with a demon that looks like her! And, as you can tell from some of these pics, she also get nude in the film. Featherstone shows off her perky boobs and glorious ass, when she escapes hell and later, in a tender love scene with her boyfriend in the movie.
Her third and, thus far, final horror role was in the godawful Soul Survivors (2001). This cinematic turd is boring, wimpy, and mostly forgettable. I truthfully don't remember jackshit about it, other than I hated it, and that it features a beautiful female cast, including Featherstone, of course. She played a lesbian in the movie and plays tonsil-hockey with the beautiful Eliza Dushku in one scene. I know there is an unrated version, which, I think, has a longer version of this or something like that (as opposed to the PG-13 version, which I suffered through). However, I cannot bring myself to watch this movie ever again. That being said, I can post pics, gifs for all of you guys, cause that's the type of kindhearted and thoughtful writer that I am!
 


A talented, sexy, and naturally beautiful actress, Angela Featherstone has long been a personal favorite of mine. With her amazing body, stunning eyes, and gorgeous face, she is a sight to behold. As said before, she is underrated, but I have always using this section to bring attention and love to lovely actresses who deserve it and might not get it. And, with that I welcome and induct Angela Featherstone into this site's Horror Crushes!

NAZITHON: DECADENCE AND DESTRUCTION (Review)

In a bunker, Frau Bombshell (Michelle ''Bombshell'' McGee) is accompanied by a silent Nazi solider. She hosts a bunch of Naziploitation and Nazi centered exploitation movie trailers. They are shock of full babes, violence, gore, torture, and/ or the supernatural.
Nazithon: Decadence and Destruction is a heartwarming trailer collection from Charles Band and Full Moon's Grindhouse Collection. Our host, Michelle ''Bombshell'' McGee, is best known as the chick who broke up Sandra Bullock's marriage to Jesse James. She also appeared in some pics online where she wore a swastika armband. Her appearing on this collection can be seen either as distasteful and sleazy or as pure exploitation sensibility. I'll go with the former. Everything here is done with tongue firmly in cheek as an exploitation trailer collection should be. McGee is not a great host, not by a long shot, but she is adequate and serves her purpose. At least, I suppose she does.

The trailers are broken up into sections: Nazi camps, Nazi babes, Neo-Nazis, and supernatural Nazis. The last two add a bit of variety to the sick mix by focusing on blaxploitation (The Black Gestapo) and various biker flicks (The Tormentors and others) for Neo-Nazis, while the last section is all horror flicks. Nazi zombies (Zombie Lake, Shockwaves,etc.) and even Nazi ghosts (Death Ship) are featured.
All of the trailers are fun. In case of the first half centering on Naziploitation, they are in considerable bad taste. They are also usually really bad movies, so the truth is that many of their trailers are better than the films themselves! Among the movies of this nasty sub-genre presented here are: SS Camp 5: Women’s Hell, SS Hell Camp, SS Experiment Love Camp, Salon Kitty (a genuine classic of the sub-genre), and more. Also included are trailers for all of the Ilsa movies, which are generally considered the creme-de-la-creme in exploitation circles.
Tossed among the trailers are clips from two movies. First off is Video Nasty SS Hell Camp (AKA The Beast in Heat) (pictured above). Seeing the clip they show here may lead you to believe that this is a great movie with a hot and evil chick. Well, she certainly is hot and evil, but the movie is pretty far from being good at all. Meanwhile, the clip from Jean Rollin's Zombie Lake almost put me to sleep. But, honestly that's about the only weak part in an otherwise fun compilation.

Nazithon: Decadence and Destruction is a fun and not very politically correct trailer collection of a pretty tasteless sub-genre. Centering on Naziploitation and Nazi-centered sex and violence movies, it might not be for everyone. However, if you are not offended by subject matter and, most specially, if you are curious about it, dive right in! After all, Charles Band truly knows how to put these trailer collections (The Best of Sex and Violence anyone?) successfully together, and this perversely fun edition is no different.

THE BEST OF SEX AND VIOLENCE (1982) (Full Moon DVD Review)

This early 80s compilation from producer Charles Band has horror legend John Carradine host a bunch of exploitation trailers. The movies featured all have sex, violence, or both, of course!
John Carradine makes for a likable and funny host. The dialogue written for him by Frank (Mansion of the Doomed) Ray Perilli is witty and funny. It is also, much like the movies featured here, decidedly not very PC, which is perfectly fine by me. There is a tongue and cheek quality here that makes it all very fun. One wonders what Carradine was thinking hosting this admit ably sleazy collection of clips, especially considering he didn't seem very fond of being linked to horror (see the interview on the extra features of The House of Seven Corpses for proof). This probably just amounted to a paycheck for him and that's all.
The movies included in here run the gamut of biker, blaxplotation, softcore, sex comedies, action, women in chains, and horror movies. They include such titles as: I Spit on Your Grave, Alice in Wonderland, Tanya's Island (which, by the way, tells the of the love triangle between a hot chick played by the late, great Prince protege Vanity, a dude, and a large, hairy ape beast...), The Boogeyman, The Disco Godfather, Emaunelle Around the World, Bury Me an Angel, Terminal Island, and more.
The cover features a young Brinke Stevens, who would go on to become a legendary scream queen. While, the cover image promises that Night of the Living Dead is here; it ain't. Maybe it got it confused with The Twilight People (below)?

Band seemingly found a very old, shitty VHS tape and just transferred that to DVD, as the quality here is godawful. There is NO remastering whatsoever. In fact, I used to own some VHS tapes that looked better than this. The sound is barely adequate and even that might be a case of me being too nice. The only extras are a Charles Band Grindhouse Intro and a Grindhouse Featurette, all of which can be found in any of the other Full Moon Grindhouse Collection releases.
Still, despite the shit quality, this is fun and enjoyable. It's a blast to see Carradine present such sleaziod flicks and deliver fun one-liners. The cameo at the end by his sons, David and Keith (left), add to the pricelessness of it all. If you are a fellow fan of sleazy B-movies and trailer collections, and can find this cheap, get it!

Dr. Leonard Chaney (Richard Basehart) is a brilliant and rich eye-surgeon. One day a dog crosses in front of his car, as he is driving. His pretty daughter, Nancy (Trish Stewart) warns him, and he swerves the car to avoid hitting the pooch but crashes. The broken glass from the front window causes his daughter to go blind. So, while he may care about doggies (Yay!!), he is not necessarily a very good driver (oh well, no one is perfect!). He begins to transplant the eyes of living people into his daughter's eye sockets. She can see, but the effect doesn't last long. So, he keeps on collecting eyes for his daughter, with the help of his loyal housekeeper Katherine (Gloria Grahame). All the while, keeping his victims (including among them modern day horror legend Lance Henrikson as Nancy's fiance), all sans eyeballs, locked in a cell in the basement.
Mansion of the Doomed is actually the first movie that B-movie mogul and legend Charles Band produced. It's also the directorial debut of actor Michael Pataki (best known for acting gigs in movies like Halloween 4 and Rocky IV). He only directed two more times, and well, it's quite honestly better that he stuck to acting. Still, despite being a pretty derivative flick of Eyes without a Face, it still manages to be pretty entertaining, despite it's flaws.
Patakis isn't particularly good at building tension or suspense, and, for the most part the movie is kinda just there. Thankfully, it is pretty short and goes by fairly quickly. It's enough to keep you interested in what is going on, and what to know how it's all gonna end.
It's really aided by a cast that is way better than this movie probably deserves. Richard Basehart is really credible as the sort of sympathetic villain. He gives his all and helps to hold the movie together. Also, quite good is Gloria Grahame as the housekeeper who loves him and is will to do anything to help him and his daughter. They both add some class to the whole proceedings. Henriksen, one of my all time favorite actors, is quite young in what is one of his earliest roles. It's a cool one for us fans of his to see. He definitely has always had good acting chops, even while missing his eyes!
Speaking of eyes, there is lots clinical level grue with all the graphic eye surgery. It was enough to garner the attention of the British authorities during the whole Video Nasty era. While, it never made the official list, it was in the third section, which meant it could be seized. It's on the excellent second volume of the documentary, Video Nasties: The Definitive Guide Vol. 2, that I first heard about this one. The FX handled by a young Stan Winston (making this the second Terminator/ Aliens connection!) are excellent and gruesome.
Full Moon currently has a DVD of it out. It is full screen and has not been remastered, so it looks pretty grainy and crappy. The Mono sound is just OK. It sounds clear and there isn't any hiss or other major issues, that I noticed. It also comes with trailers to other exploitation films that Full Moon sells. Yet, oddly this movie's trailer ain't here. Huh? Still, the DVD can be found pretty cheap, and is worth looking for, at the right price.

Mansion of the Doomed is a little on the pedestrian side, at times. But, it's made watchable thanks to some solid acting and good gore. Coupled with a short running time and a suitably nasty ending, it turns out to be an overall decent little movie. So long as they don't expect a masterpiece or anything original (or a quality DVD), fans of gore, mad doctors, 70s cheapo horror, and/ or Lance Henriksen will be in for a little bit of a treat.

MonsterMania- July 13, 2016

After a more than two year absence I was back at Monster-Mania yesterday, Aug. 13, 2016. My friend Freddie (and latest addition to the Master's Minions!) and I headed out to Cherry Hill, NJ early. Now, I should mention that this day was the hottest day of the year, feeling like 108 degrees, at least. It's part of an oppressive and ongoing, brutal heatwave. But, we were determined to go and enjoy ourselves. Which we fully did, despite the nasty heat that even the guests would end up feeling.

I was there mostly to meet the cast members of the sixth Halloween installment, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. The sequel has long been one of debate among fans due to the cuts of the film, theatrical and producer's, with the later rightfully being considered the better version of the two, by most.

I took my copy of the film, from Scream Factory's superaltive Halloween: The Complete Collection box-set to get signed. The first person I met was the absolutely stunning J.C. Brandy who took over for Danielle Harris in the role of Jamie Lloyd in the film. I asked her which version she preferred. She replied that she liked both, mentioning that she preferred the FX of the theatrical cut. But, disliked the flat look of the reshoots on it, which I agree with. I also asked her which version of her death she preferred she said she didn't care for either mentioning that while the FX looked great in the theatrical cut, it was shot "too flat". And, that no one gets killed via a gunshot as was her fate in the producer's cut. Brandy looked breathtakingly beautiful and was extremely sweet and talkative. Freddie and I were blown away by her beauty in person.
Sitting to her left was the beautiful Mariah O'Brien who played the victim Beth in the same film. She was very friendly and talkative as well. I was pleasantly surprised that she was not only that character but the cover model on Alice In Chains classic release Dirt! Plus, she was also the sexy cover model on Spinal Tap's Bitch School maxi single. She told cool stories about shooting both album covers. And, when asked who her favorite act was she said it was Led Zeppelin. She also told us that she would love to have been part of Jimi Hendrix's entourage!
I would end up telling her that I had a little bit of crush on her after seeing her in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. She seemed very flattered. O'Brien was really fun to talk to, even though we could see that the heat was killing her as it was killing us. I also want to say that she has such stunning and beautiful eyes! Wow, just wow!
The last person I went up to was Marianne Hagan, who played Kara Strode, the beautiful final girl of the movie. She was cool and fun to talk to. Turns out that she is a fellow New Yorker, as we discussed the shitty heat of the day, and how even us NYers just ain't used to it. We mean it gets bad, but not like this bad! I asked her what cut she preferred, she said the producer's but thinks that the original script was so much better. She said it made so much more sense, even more sense than said superior cut. She said that due to time constraints, the director would rip out parts of the script. I liked her fun attitude and she made us laugh with what she said. Hagan is awesome, in fact everyone from the film was, as Freddie got autographs from the above and the rest of the film's cast that was there.

I may have been there for a Michael Myer's flick but Jason Voorhees and Friday the 13th were well represented, too. C.J. Graham, who played Jason in the best sequel in the franchise, Friday the 13th, Pt VI: Jason Lives, had this kick ass banner next to his table.
There were a couple of cosplayers. Props must be given to them for toughing it out in this heat. I would never have done my Punisher cosplay (which I started doing at a friend's Marvel wedding, recently) that day, so this take's some balls or at least some level of insanity! Anyways, I only got to snap pics of one, this cool as fuck Jason inspired from the 8th film, Jason Takes Manhattan.
I also got some cool swag, of course. Including another Fright-Rags shirt (and interviewed the owner and founder, that's coming soon!) and bought two blu-rays, Bloodsucking Freaks (from Troma) and Sorority Babes in the Slimeball O-Rama (from Full Moon):
In all, this was a fun, though nightmarishly hot, time. Hopefully, there will not be as big a time span between this and my next MonsterMania, as there was last time. Oh and hopefully, it's never this hot at a con, again!

MODEL HUNGER Signing at Forbidden Planet NYC 7/13/16

Yesterday, July 13, 2016, there was a signing for the DVD of the just released indie-horror flick Model Hunger at Forbidden Planet in NYC. The movie marks the directorial debut of scream queen legend, the lovely Debbie Rochon.

Among those present for the signing were: , , , (the movie's writer and producer), Suzi Lorraine, Kaylee Williams, and, of course, Debbie, herself.  


 
It had been a while since I last saw Debbie, which coincidentally was at a signing in the same store (the one for the Fangoria book) a little over a year ago. But, it had been much longer since I last saw Suzi. That was way back at Saturday Nightmares in 2011 (!), where I actually got to do a little interview with her and Debbie, actually.
 
Anyway, I had a blast at the signing and look forward to seeing the movie, finally. I been meaning to do just that ever since I first heard about it. The movie also stars other legendary horror actresses in the form of Lynn Lowry and Tiffany Shepis. I'll review/ share my thoughts on it when I do. Below you will see my signed copy of it, as well as a signed copy of Delirium magazine (bought said mag online,via Full Moon's website, by the way). The issue features on article on this very movie, and Debbie signed it for me. This is an EXCELLENT mag, bought to you by Charles Band and has guys from Fango like Chris Alexander and Michael Gingold working on it.
