It has been a very long time (way too fucking long, if you were to ask me) since we inducted a lady into this site's Horror Crush section. And, with Valentine's Day coming up and it being Women in Horror Month, it feels more appropriate than ever to do so. And, with that being said, this time around the chosen beauty is the stunning Kim Director!
Kim Director was born on November 13, 1974 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She made her acting debut in Spike Lee's He Got Game (1998). But, I wouldn't know of her till I saw the movie that made her one of my personal favorite horror crushes (and thus paved the way for her induction): Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2(2000).
Taking a meta approach, this often, and unjustly, at that, maligned sequel, has the events of the first movie, be just that a movie. Or is it? As our characters go off to prove if it was indeed real or just reel. Kim plays one of said characters, Kim a gorgeous, goth babe that is hotter than hell. Director is quite good in her role, as is the rest of the cast.
If you wanna go much deeper into my thoughts on this flick, please read my review of it. But, long story short, it maybe flawed but is still a good movie. One that I truly believe has aged much better than its predecessor. Also, starring in the movie is the gorgeous Erica (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake) Leershen. And, regardless of your thoughts on the movie itself (though, I firmly feel those who dislike it should give a second chance) I think we can all agree that Director looks breathtaking in it. This is especially true for those of who love goth girls!
Director, though, wouldn't return to horror movies, themselves, till 2016 for M. Knight Shaymalan's Split, in an uncredited role as a character named Hannah. I am guessing this was a small role, and I honestly didn't notice her in it. Did any of you guys notice her role?
She would, eventually, start doing conventions (you know while those actually were still occurring) beginning with Chiller Theatre April 2018. I met her there, and she was so genuinely sweet and, of course, breathtakingly beautiful. She followed that up with NJ Horror Con March 2019, where she actually remembered my friend and myself! I didn't get a pic with her at that event, but one of my friends did (note: as such there are no pics of her my in report concerning NJ Horror Con.).
Then in 2020, she appeared on an episode of NOS4A2 as a character named Sasha in an episode called "Good Father". I have never watched this show, but if you have let me know in the comments, especially your thoughts on her in said episode.
And, she has an upcoming in Glen Danzig's
Death Rider in the House of the Vampires. This movie also stars Devon Sawa, Julian Sands, Danny Trejo, and the Soska Sisters! It looks like it is sexy and gory fun, and Director looks incredible in the trailer! And, quite frankly it is said trailer that made it very clear that sealed the deal on this induction. Kim Director is an absolute stunning beauty (those eyes!!), naturally sexy, and a great actress (check out her amazing performance in HBO's The Deuce for proof). And, while she hadn't done that much horror, she is, in recent years, beginning to rack up the appearances in the genre. Plus, she really likes being at horror conventions. But, even outside of that, her role in Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 pretty much certifies that she deserves being her. Long, long overdue, it is with great honor that I declare Kim Director an official inductee into this site's Horror Crushes!
50. Virginia Gardner- (new)- The gorgeous blonde actress, Virginia Gardner, played the hot and doomed babysitter in this year's highly entertaining, and profitable, Halloween. That film earned her a spot this site's hallowed Horror Crushes section (https://www.themastergio.com/2018/10/horror-crush-virginia-gardner.html). 49. Kim Director- (new)- Naturally beautiful and effortlessly sexy, Kim Director graced us east-coast horror fans this year with an appearance April's Chiller. She has been gracing our TVs on one of the best series currently airing, The Duece.
48. Scarlett Johansson- (last year ranked 2016 #68)- The short blonde hair looked quite good, on Scar Jo in Avengers: Infinity War one of the year's finest releases. And, while I prefer the red hair, it is impossible for the lovely Ms. Johansson to not look great!
47. Dana DeLorenzo- (new)- It sucked ass that the amazing Ash Vs. Evil Dead got canceled this year. But, damn it if did not go out with a motherfucking bang! The gorgeous Dana De Lorenzo was one hell of a deadite ass kicker on the show and looked great doing that!
46. Morena Baccarin- (last year ranked 2016 #68)- The gorgeous Ms. Baccarin returned as Deadpool's gal Vanessa for this year's wild and fun Deadpool 2. While, her character was doomed, this time around, she still looked beautiful as ever!
45. Alexia Rodriguez- (last year ranked 2014 #32- First year ranked without her sister)- I love the new self titled album from Eyes Set To Kill. It helps to bring back the gorgeous and ubber talented Alexia back from a four year(!!) absence. She is the sole remaining sister in the band, though, but Alexia proved that she is more than up to the task!
44. Maisie Richardson-Sellers- (last year #45)- The exquisitely beautiful Maisie Richardson-Sellers moves up a spot. Her new character of punky Charlie was a great way to bring her back on Legends of Tomorrow. I honestly missed the hell out of her!
43. Gillian Anderson(last year ranked 2016 #37)- This year bought us what seems to be the true end of The X-Files, which I miss, all over again! Even if it would ever come back, Anderson has made it clear it'll be without her. Either way she was wonderful and looked amazing as ever in this solid, final season.
42. Holly Hendrix- (last year #37)- One of porn's naughtiest, nastiest, and hottest performers, Holly Hendrix can rack up awards like no body's business. And, if you have seen her and her butt work, then you know exactly why this is the case!
41. Janet Varney- (last year #63)- Stan Against Evil is the best horror show that you are probably not watching. It is also one of the most hilarious shows on all of television. And, one of the reasons for that is the stunning and funny as fucking hell Janet Varney, who moves up several spots on the list to coincide with a fucking killer season of this great show! On April 28, 2018, my friend and Master's Minion, Freddie, and I returned to the best convention on God's green Earth, Chiller Theatre! The last time we had gone was a year ago last April (meaning we sadly missed last October's edition), but we were back baby! And, man did we ever have a blast!
The first celebrity that I up was the absolutely beautiful Kim Director. I have been a huge fan of this stunning and talented beauty since I first saw her in the underrated Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2. As such, I was so excited to see her name added to the Chiller guest list! We talked about the awesome HBO show, The Duece, which she is on. And, how friend, from Brooklyn, had told me that they were shooting scenes of it in her neighborhood. Kim was super sweet and friendly, and, to be honest, absolutely breathtaking in her beauty!She seemed pleasantly surprised that what I wanted signed by her was my DVD copy of the Blair Witch 2.
The next star I went up to was the person I was most excited to meet all weekend, the gorgeous and very talented Scout Taylor-Compton! She is, of course, best known for playing Laurie Strode in Rob Zombie's Halloween remake. I am a huge fan of said movie, and think it is the second best entry in the entire franchise. I told her all of this, as she signed my Blu-ray copy of said movie. She also told me that she wanted to have the baseball shirt that I was wearing, which is Fright Rag's awesome tee of Rob Zombie's Halloween. She is on the shirt, as Michael Myers holds her. But, she missed getting it, as it is sold out! Damn it! Anyway, Scout is not only even more beautiful in person, but she also so very sweet, bubbly, and down-to-earth, that she truly made my day extra awesome!
After this, we waited for Jason X's absolutely gorgeous Kristi Angus. She is best known as the beautiful blonde scientist who gets her face frozen, then smashed to bits by Jason in the aforementioned tenth entry of the long running Friday the 13th franchise. I told her that hers is one of my favorite kills in the entire series. And, that I quite enjoy the movie, and, in fact, like it more than a couple of the other sequels in the series. A big reason for that is that it is fun and tries something new with the Jason movies. All I can add is that she is extremely sweet and impossibly beautiful. Also, you can see in the pic below, that Adrienne King, the final girl of the first and, still, best entry in the series, Friday the 13th, photobombed us, making this one of my favorite Chiller pics, ever!
Speaking of Ms. King, she had the boots that she wore on that classic film with her. You can see them in the pic below.
The last celeb, I got to meet was Keir Dullea, star of classic movies like Black Christmas and 2001: A Space Odyssey. My friend Freddie and I got a pic with him.
As usual there was all the cosplay fun and, later on, party time that we fans have come to expect from the awesomeness that is Chiller!

Following the cultural phenomena of the original The Blair Witch Project, a crew of young people decide to take a tour of the movie location ran by Jeffery (Jeffery Donovan) in Burkittsville, Maryland. The next morning they wake up, after having passed out, and their papers and cameras are rip and trashed. They don't remember anything that happened. The tapes remained intact, though, hidden under rocks. But, what happened during their lost time, and what is up with the increasingly weird shit they are seeing? Are they haunted by their delusions or the witch, herself?
Released a year after the first film this is the much maligned sequel to one of the most successful indie movies of all time. Of course, a sequel was to be made, it's an unwritten rule in cinema, maybe more so in the horror world. But, this movie took fans for different all together ride, and that in their eyes, at least, partially hurt the movie. It is certainly flawed, but it doesn't deserve all the hate it gets.
One of the major saving graces is the fact that it had the balls to go against the grain. This could have easily been another found footage, shakey cam, kill some young folk in the woods affair. Instead, co-writer/ director Joe Berlinger went for a meta/ psychological horror flick. Berlinger who made the excellent Paradise Lost docus about kids wrongfully accused of murder for being metal, in particular Metallica, fans, could have given us a faux-docu style turd. Then he have just collected a pay check, and called it a day. Instead, he thought of outside the box.
Studio interference occurred though, and as is often the case, it hurt the movie. They made him shoot unneeded gore which really is out of place and does the movie no good. They also reordered and cut more crap in (IE the gore). A lot of the ambiguity that he was going for is totally lost. Shit, they even switched his music choices adding Marilyn Manson to the opening title scene. The director admits to loving Manson, but that is not what he is going for (if you wanna learn more listen to his excellent DVD's running commentary).
Still, the ideas presented are really smart. Perception vs. reality, media influence, mass delusions, etc. all play a role in the film's plot. It's fairly well paced, except when the random gore inserts are sliced in and make the movie feel uneven and wholly stick out. Still, it actually leads to a fairly well handled climax. The ending itself is not bad, but I can easily see where fans might be like, "That's it?!"
The acting is really good. The cast are mostly unknowns but deliver performances far beyond the usual cash grab sequel, shit. The characters, themselves, serve as archetypes of the audience that the original movie caught the interest and obsession of. Most of the said characters, other than Jeffery, who is admit ably a dick, are pretty likable. All this thought of characters, again goes against the horror sequel mentality.
My two favorite actors and characters come from two very lovely ladies. Kim Director as Kim (all the cast played characters which had the same first name as theirs) is the gorgeous, voluptuous, blue-eyed goth girl of our dreams. She has a little bit of a kick ass attitude and is believable and likable. Erica Leerhsen (who would go on to play a victim in the underwhelming The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake) is great as the Wiccan pissed at the way the first movie represented witches in the first. She also appears almost topless and has an amazing body. Worth mentioning is an all too brief kiss between both these goddesses.
I recall all the hate Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 got when it came it out. Yet, I recall it not being that bad. I hadn't watched it since it was in the movies, until last night. And, it really is not that bad. Most of the issues are studio related, like calling it Book of Shadows. I mean there is no fucking book in this movie, so what the fuck were they thinking?! But, it still remains a bold, interesting, well acted movie. It is not great, and won't please everyone, but I have noticed some nice write-ups and videos pop-up. Is perception changing? I don't know, maybe, those who liked it are finally becoming more vocal. Like me, for example. With Blair Witch, the third installment which will serve as a direct sequel to the classic, coming out this weekend, now is the perfect time to revisit this movie.
