Ghoul, Necrot, and Dead Heat to Support Municipal Waste for Brainsqueeze Tour 2024! Tickets on Sale this Friday!

Municipal Waste, Tankcrimes, and Nuclear Blast are pleased to present the first ever Brainsqueeze Tour. Confirmed for late Winter 2024, the month-long North American live assault features Municipal Waste, Ghoul, Necrot, and Dead Heat.

The newly created maiden Brainsqueeze Tour originated with several successful Tankcrimes Brainsqueeze festivals in the label’s hometown of Oakland, California. “Celebrating friendship and noise,” the fests were headlined by Municipal Waste and filled with support from the label’s top associated acts at the time including Ghoul, Final Conflict, Fucked Up, Toxic Holocaust, and more.

Now, ten years since the last Tankcrimes Brainsqueeze, the inaugural Brainsqueeze Tour will run from February 15th through March 16th, raiding twenty-four North American cities. The tour package unites a full roster of Tankcrimes artists opening for Municipal Waste, the label’s most prestigious alumnus. If it’s a Brainsqueeze, Richmond’s hard-partying crossover crew is the headliner, and that rings true for the upcoming trek where they’ll be flanked by Creepsylvanian

splatter thrashers Ghoul, Oakland death dealers Necrot, and Oxnard crossover outfit Dead Heat.

With the news of Brainsqueeze Tour 2024, Tankcrimes’ Scotty Heath declares, “I’m absolutely thrilled to take this show on the road featuring four of the best bands in metal punk today and a nice mix. Extra special thanks goes to Tony Foresta and Nick Storch for putting this together plus the ‘Waste guys for hosting our wild Tankcrimes family lineup as we smash the states together. Be sure to get plenty of rest and save up tons of cash – you’re going to need it for the Brainsqueeze!”

Municipal Waste's Tony Foresta comments, “We don't do headlining runs in the states as often as we should. So this time, in order to celebrate the twenty first anniversary of our first album, Waste ‘Em All, we wanted to do it with bands and people that we consider our family and friends. Back in the day, we had a tradition that our sixth band member, Scotty, created in Oakland called ‘Brainsqueeze.’ It was a very fun but short-lived tradition that brought together people from all over the world in the small scene we built. Those events were very dear to us and we felt it needed to come back in one way or another.

"Twenty-one is a big birthday for all of us, so in order to celebrate Waste ‘Em All's big one, we thought it would be best to bring the Brainsqueeze to you! We couldn't be more excited to have Ghoul, Necrot, and Dead Heat back on the road with us as well as a few regional surprises along the way. This is going to be a good one. See you soon!

Ghoul vocalist/guitarist Digestor states, "Ghoul is proud to join the incomparable Municipal Waste, Necrot, and Dead Heat as we lay waste to your pathetic, ignorant country*. Get your affairs in order, America**!

*and also parts of Canada, which are quite nice

**and Canada"

Necrot bassist/vocalist Luca Indrio notes, "Municipal Waste’s fans are never scared to get in the pit and fuck shit up and we can’t wait to give ’em some death metal to warm up to. It’s going to be a sick party every night and we get to bring the evil riffs. It doesn’t get much better than that. Also, we’ll get to premiere a song out of our new album and play it live every night before the album will be released. That’s definitely something our true fans don’t want to miss! This tour is coming to knock at your door, and you don’t want to be caught sleeping. See you all there!”

Dead Heat vocalist Chris Ramos adds, "Hey what’s up ya worms! Dead Heat here to tell ya how bricked up we are to be hitting the road in 2024 and coming to a city near you. We’ll be bringing you an endless tour-ment of some of the most beast bands around! So come to a show and slam your little hearts out. See you in the pit!”

Tickets for all Brainsqueeze Tour 2024 shows will go on sale this Friday, November 10th at 10:00am local time at THIS LOCATION

Tankcrimes to Release Twentieth Anniversary Vinyl Repress of Toxic Holocaust's Debut Album "Evil Never Dies" on Dec. 8!

Tankcrimes is pleased to announce a special twentieth anniversary vinyl repress of Evil Never Dies, the debut full-length from TOXIC HOLOCAUST, set for release on December 8th.

TOXIC HOLOCAUST began kicking out the corrosive jams in basements and bedrooms over twenty years ago, building a punishing legacy of mutant thrash and filthy street punk that’s outlasted the heydays of the genres that spawned them. Founder Joel Grind, whose dedication to the one-man-band ethos gives the late Quorthon a run for his money, melts down the greatest punk metal crossover riff collection imaginable into nuclear ooze. With each successive release, Grind repurposes the most visceral strengths of speed, thrash, and punk through his own unique vision, making for new metal anthems that consistently reignite a circle-pitting feeding frenzy in the scene.

Initially released in 2003 via Nuclear War Now Productions and Witches Brew Records, Evil Never Dies was Grind’s first official full-length. Wrote All Music of the release, “…Evil Never Dies may have originally been released in 2003, but it rocks and rages like it was plucked directly out of the metal underground circa 1983. The group's leader -- the appropriately named Joel Grind -- managed to pack quite a wallop on this recording, which perfectly laid out the group's subsequent releases. In other words, you know exactly what to expect with each new TOXIC HOLOCAUST release -- early Metallica/Slayer-styled thrash. Case in point, such eardrum bashers as ‘War Is Hell,’ ‘Enemy Of Jesus,’ ‘666,’ and the album closer, ‘Atomik Destruktor.’ For thrash so vintage sounding that it could be passed off as an unreleased album teleported directly from the mid ‘80s, Evil Never Dies is one potent metallic weapon.” Dead Rhetoric concurred noting, “Fun, zesty jams like ‘Damned To Fire,’ ‘Summon The Beast,’ and ‘Warfare’ aren’t hard to get into. They’re punchy, instantly memorable cuts that demonstrate Grind’s deft, but simple songwriting skills…”

Comments Grind on the Tankcrimes reissue, “It’s hard to believe I recorded Evil Never Dies twenty years ago. It simultaneously feels like yesterday and forever ago. At the time, there was minimal info on recording a DIY solo record at home. I just kinda learned as I went through trial and error. After all these years, I’m still happy with the way it turned out. No computers, no fixing…bumps and bruises and all.

“People have been asking for this LP to be available again and I can’t think of anyone better to bring it back to life than Scotty Heath from Tankcrimes. There’s nothing better than getting to work with your friends.”

Tankcrimes will reissue Evil Never Dies as a one-time, vinyl-only pressing limited to 2000 copies in the following color variants: Toxic Radiation Splatter (500) and Yellow w/ Black And White Splatter (1500).

Body Count Releases New Radio Edit Of "No Lives Matter" Today

BODY COUNT RELEASES NEW RADIO EDIT OF
"NO LIVES MATTER" TODAY

WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO HERE

(Los Angeles, CA - June 17, 2020) - In light of current events, Body Count announces the release of their radio single "No Lives Matter" today via Century Media Records. Watch the music video for "No Lives Matter", which is off their 2017 full-length album Bloodlust HERE.

The track's message is more relevant than ever as Body Count frontman Ice-T states in the music video intro, "...when I say 'Black Lives Matter' and you say 'All Lives Matter', that's like if I was to say 'Gay Lives Matter' and you say 'All Lives Matter'. If I said, 'Women's Lives Matter' and you say 'All Lives Matter'. You're diluting what I'm saying. You're diluting the issue. The issue isn't about everybody, it's about black lives, at the moment."

Century Media Records Director Philipp Schulte adds, "As a company we felt it was necessary to release this single as a way to actively participate in the change that is needed to combat police brutality and racism. It is a first step in doing our part to inspire unity and transformation."

Power Trip- Live In Seattle 05.28.2018 (Album Review)

Musician: Power Trip
Album Title: Live In Seattle 05.28.2018
Gebnre/ Subgenre: Thrash Metal/ Crossover
Label: Dark Operative
Release Date: June 11, 2020

On June 11, 2020, Texas crossover thrash act Power Trip dropped a really awesome surprise on fans when they released the live album Live In Seattle 05.28.2018. And, I am here to tell you that's a really fun listen!

The performance captured here comes from their tour with Sheer Mag, Red Death, and Fury. The album is mixed and mastered by, Zachary Rippy of Sound Signal Audio and sounds great. Production is crisp and thick, yet keeps the raw concert feel to it.

There are 11 ass-kickers here that come from the band's discography. Among the favorites included are: a crushing and blistering rendition of "Soul Sacrifice", the fucking awesome modern classic that is "Executioner's Tax (Swing of the Axe)", and the all-out crossover assault of "Manifest Decimation". The album closes off with the super catchy and fun "Crossbreaker".

Power Trip are one of the kings of modern day crossover thrash, on top of being a killer live act. And, Live In Seattle 05.28.2018, wonderfully captures that. With no actual concerts till next year, hopefuly, this is a nice little gift to the fans. At the very least, it is a truly awesome way to tide over us fans of the band, till they give a new, original record.

Toy Fair 2020- NECA- Geek & Metal Edition

In my last two Toy Fair posts (Toy Fair 2020- NECA Toys- Horror Edition, Part 1 and Toy Fair 2020- NECA Toys- Horror Edition, Part 2: Aliens, Predators, and Gremlins!), I focused on the horror related toy that NECA will be putting out. Now, it's time to turn the focus towards geek related figures, as well as those with a heavy dose of metal!!

First let's start with these cool as fuck Defenders of the Earth action figures. Do any of you remember this 80's 'toon, where Flash Gordon, Mandrake the Magician, the Phantom, and Lothar teamed up to battle the evil Ming the Merciless? I loved it as a kid. I have no fucking clue, if it would hold up today. But, as I said before the figures are really freaking sweet looking!

NECA have a shitload of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figures coming out. Based on the 80's toon, video games, and live action flicks, these are totally awesome!!

Now, it is time to fucking rock! We will be getting figures from The Misfits, Iron Maiden (based on the classic album Powerslave), and, most pleasantly surprising, Stormtroopers of Death (S.O.D.)!! Fuck yeah!! These clothed figures rule!

Toxic Holocaust- Primal Future: 2019 (Album Review)

Musician: Toxic Holocaust
Album Title: Primal Holocaust: 2019
Genre/ Subgenre: Thrash metal/ Crossover Thrash
Label: Entertainment One (eOne)
Release Date: October 4, 2019

After a six year hiatus, with the last release being 2013's Chemistry of Conscious, Joel Grind's one-man crossover thrash machine of Toxic Holocaust is back with Primal Future: 2019. And, with it, he has crafted his best work yet! The fact that he sang, played all the instruments, mixed, and mastered it, makes this all the more impressive.

The crossover sound is at full blast in this kick your fucking teeth in release. Fast and furious, as the album title and cool as fuck album artwork, by Steve Crisp, hint at, the thematic element here is a dystopian technological conquest. And, like an attack from Skynet, this fucker will blow away!

The second track, "Black Out the Code", has a badass riff that truly drives this fucking killer banger, Lightning fast and shredding to the ninth degree, it recalls early Megadeth and Venom in its unrelenting fury. The mysterious and haunting intro to the title track feels like it would be right at home in a dystopian science fiction thriller like The Road Warrior or The Terminator. Then, the chugging music comes and you will not be able to resist to bang your head right along to it. The menacing and apocalyptic lyrics add a dark and terrifying feel in keeping with the technological terror theme. The full blown speed and metal fury of "Iron Cage" recalls a very technically sound version of Discharge. It's punk like heart will really please those lovers of crossover. The rollicking groove and vinegar and piss of "Controlled by Fear" makes for what is probably my favorite track on this one. It's sure to get that motherfucking pit going!
It has been way too long since we have had a Toxic Holocaust release, but with Primal Holocaust: 2019, they have surpassed all my expectations. Not only is the best album ever put out by TH, but one of the very best thrash releases of 2019. And, considering the releases we have had in this style of metal this year, this is no small feet. Recalling early Metallica and Megadeth, Venom, Nuclear Assault, Discharge, and others in various parts and tracks, this one is sure to please those who miss the glory days of metal's greatest subgenre. So throw on your denim battle jacket. get ready to jump in the pit, and listen to the fuck out of this absolute scorcher of a release!

Megadeth at Terminal 5 NYC 3/17/16

This past St. Patty's day, I had the luck to attend the second of two straight days of the mighty Megadeth's NYC dates at Terminal 5. They have been one of my personal favorite bands since I was a young teen, but this was my first time seeing them in concert. And, I can honestly say that the show fucking ruled!

The first band I got to see their full set was another one, I had wanted to see perform live for ages, Finnish melodic death metal masters, Children of Bodom! They played a couple of songs off of their latest release, I Worship Chaos, including the kick ass title as well some classics. Among those was a blistering live performance of one my favorite songs of theirs: "In Your Face". That song is so fucking badass! Their performed amazingly on this night. CoB are such a technically awesome band, with talent that just drips out of every instrument that they touch. And, their signer/ guitarist Alexi Laiho, has long been one of my heroes.

Up next is the only band, I had seen before live, coincidentally at the very same venue a couple of years back: crossover thrash metal legends Suicidal Tendencies! From the first song, the classic "You Can't Bring Me Down" to the closing song, "Pledge Your Allegiance" (one of my favorite songs, of all time!), they killed it onstage!! And, there is no denying that front-man Mike Muir is the fucking man. He spent the whole show running and moving around from one side of the stage to the other. Not to mention he said some pretty cool/ inspirational things between songs. Former Slayer and legendary drummer Dave Lombardo played for them about a song or two into the set. It was AWESOME to see him with ST!! They'll be back for a headliner show, in the fall, I think he said. I hope to be there!

Soon it was time for one of the greatest metal bands of all time, a member of The Big Four: Megadeth!! The set opened with the technically awesome "Hanger 18", while alien autopsy footage played in the background. They ran some cool video images with all their songs. The set-included songs of off their awesome new album Dystopia, including the title track, "The Threat Is Real", my favorite track off the album- "Post American World", and others. Of course, they played classics, too, like "Trust", "Wake Up Dead", "Sweating Bullets", "In My Darkest Hour", and more.
They closed off the night with "Holy Wars... The Punishment Is Due". Throughout the whole, they proved that they are one of most technically amazing bands in all of rock and metal, and that they are just so amazing live. My only complaints are that they never played the last part of "Peace Sells", instead going right into the aforementioned "Holy Wars", and that they didn't play something off of Youthansia. Alternately, thank God they played nothing off of the preceding two albums (TH1RT3EN and Super Collider) or Risk. Anyway, the point is they are metal gods and played as such that night. A great tour, that if you can catch, you simply have to!
