The crushing combination of classic death metal ferocity with hardcore-punk spirit was created in garages and grimy venues. It was celebrated on message boards, in comment sections, and in sweaty, anarchic spaces where hardcore kids and death metal obsessives gathered. As the burgeoning sub-genre formed, teenage metalheads dared one another to get heavier. SUICIDE SILENCE made their logo synonymous with the most volatile and definitive stomp of the postmodern sound. Since their first rumblings in California's Inland Empire in the early 21st Century, the band's fusion of sonic violence, punk confrontation, and unapologetic nü-metal bounce put a fresh face on extreme metal.
Today, they are thrilled to share "Graceless," the title track from their upcoming album, which is set for release on November 20.

Canadian nu-metal band Sicksense, fronted by the incredible Vicky Psarakis, have delivered a powerful and beautiful new single with “A Moment of Violence.” Taken from their upcoming EP Funerals, the poignant track has already become one of my favorites from the band. Psarakis sounds absolutely incredible here, shifting effortlessly from beautiful, emotional vocals to powerful, gut-wrenching screams and growls that hit me right in the soul. I especially love the way the song gradually builds in intensity, making its emotional impact hit that much harder. This is an absolutely incredible track, and it has me waiting with total anticipation for the full Funerals EP!
SICKSENSE consider mortality and the endurance of conflicting personal beliefs with a deity or religion in the new single release, "A Moment Of Violence". The haunting and heavy track arrives ahead of the band's forthcoming EP, Funerals, scheduled for release on September 25, 2026.
On the meaning behind "A Moment Of Violence," the band shares, "The song discusses death and losing loved ones close to us. It’s a personal battle with God/a higher power, that we emotionally wrestle with and find difficulty and frustration in coming to terms with. There’s an irony in that if God loves us so much, why do we end up suffering in this life and suddenly losing all the ones we truly love to death."
"A Moment Of Violence" is the final offering in the running order of the new EP, Funerals. Musically, "[i]t rounds up the angsty frustrations of their prior songs with solemness and sadness with Vicky playing piano while singing and thunderstorm sounds resonating in the background, with orchestrations, including violin played by our bassist, Rich. A song that starts off as a moody ballad ends with a full band breakdown to end the EP."

A stylistic fusion awaits in the explosive "Artificial Irrelevance". This powerful opener is the heaviest offering on the EP track list and establishes a dark atmosphere with sadness, frustration and melancholy. Ferocious rhythms collide with intricate riffs, rap passages and soaring melodies. "Artificial Irrelevance" provides an unapologetic commentary on the virtual world we spend so much time immersed in often to our own detriment, questioning the morals and motives of both its creators and its users.
"Newsflash" is a bold statement empowering individuals to be themselves in the face of social pressure to adhere to the 'norm' and against being held to unachievable standards. Heavy and energetic, the track carries the attitude of early Sicksense releases with an angsty mood and sarcastic tone. "Newsflash" contains traditional nu metal grooves throughout with a djent breakdown as the outro. It's an anthem designed for unleashing pent up frustration.
Striking with brutal aggression, "Seller’s Remorse" blends nu-metal touches and emotive melodic choruses with a juxtaposing anguish fueled modern heaviness. It follows "Newsflash" thematically but is lyrically centered around the hypocrisies of others and karmic retribution. "'Seller’s Remorse' is a dire warning to the ones who believe they are untouchable to change their ways before it’s too late and the irreparable damage is done". The tone of the track mirrors the sarcasm of "Newsflash", before ending on a more serious and solemn note.
"A Moment Of Violence" emerges with a haunting piano and vocal performance by Vicky Psarakis against a backdrop of mournful orchestral strings. The thunderous arrival of heavy instruments and monstrous harsh vocals elevate the dark emotional power. "The song discusses death and losing loved ones close to us. It’s a personal battle with God/a higher power, that we emotionally wrestle with and find difficulty and frustration in coming to terms with". "A Moment Of Violence" concludes Funerals with a full immersion into the shadowy negative emotions explored across the EP.
