More Blood! is a 2018 horror movie documentary, from director/ producer Heidi (Dolly Deadly) Moore, about the love and fandom genre fans have for gore and graphic violence in genre movies. In it, horror experts and writers (from websites like Bitches of Horror and more), actors, and filmmakers talk about their interest in blood and guts onscreen. What it is specifically, about the bloodletting that appeals to them and us, so that we may all have a better understanding about it.
First and foremost, I should mention that this docu is not a look at the history of gore in horror movies or anything of the sort. It is however, a loving look at our fascination with splatter. As that, it succeeds quite well at it, on top of being very entertaining.
The interviews are very fun to listen to. Some noteworthy people interviewed include Troma Films' co-founder and owner Lloyd Kaufman, the lovely April (Chainsaw Sally) Burril, and Jay Kay (full disclosure, whose radio show, Horror Happens, I was on a few years ago) The horror experts and fans chosen to talk discuss such theories on the gore film, as why do we sometimes find bloody violence, funny? What type of gore scene disturbs them? What was their first exposure to onscreen, graphic violence? What are their favorite gore scenes and more; all of which are discussed with gleeful love and respect for the genre. They even talk about acting and directing splatter, and how everyone wants to be cast in a bloody death scene.
On a side note, I am going to take this opportunity to put this out there. I, myself, would love to get killed in a gory manner in a horror movie!
Anyway, watching their interviews, I thought to myself, these people are all so cool! I would love to sit and have beers with all of them! The documentary is paced out well and seems to go by real fast, as you have so much fun listening to everyone talk. It almost feels like you want more, when it is over. Not because, it feels incomplete, but cause you could listen to everyone talk about horror and gore forever!
But, the real icing on the cake of awesomeness are the clips. There are clips from so many horror movies (and few none horror movies thrown in). And, the variety of said splatter movies is great! They include, but are not limited to,: A Nightmare on Elm Street 3&4, Halloween II, Evil Dead II, Predator, Cannibal Holocaust (including the horrible turtle scene which is thankfully kept to a minimum), Hellraiser, I Spit on Your Grave, Irreversible, Dead Alive, and so many countless more. I mean how many documentaries can say that they feature scene from Jurassic World and the fucking Slaughtered Vomit Dolls trilogy (which I must admit to have never seen)?! Shootings, impalings, cannibalism, dismemberment, eyeball violence, and more abounds in gleeful and fucking kick ass amounts, throughout the documentary's running time!
More Blood! is fun, energetic, and a loving tribute to gore in horror movies. It makes one feel good about loving the splatter that we do, and it is great to listen to everyone talk about it. On August 19, 2017, my good friend, and one of the Master's Minions, Freddie and I, headed over to Cherry Hill for another edition of Monster-Mania!! This was an awesome experience, from start to finish, and, overall, ranks among my favorite con experiences, which is a lot!
The first celeb that I went up to was the beautiful Alison Lohman. I know her best from one of my favorite horror movies of the last couple of years, Sam Raimi's Drag Me to Hell. She played the lead in it and was great! You may also know her from White Oleander were she looked especially breathtaking as a goth chick, among other roles that she has done. She was so sweet and talkative in person, as she told us about how great it was working with Raimi, and the usage of, mostly, practical FX. She is also so naturally beautiful! Lohman signed my Blu-ray copy of Drag Me to Hell. I was so happy to meet her as she was one of the two that I most wanted to meet for the first time.
The other person I most wanted to meet the most was the still gorgeous Daphne Zuniga. Many will best know this talented stunner from Melrose Place or from the Mel Brooks comedy Spaceballs. But, my favorite role of hers in the oh so fun sequel The Fly II. I actually asked her about it, and she told me that she could talk more about it more at her panel later in the day. But, she did tell me that she was already friends with Eric Stolz before shooting the flick. She is very sweet and seemed to be having a lot of fun at the con, as she was all smiles. I got to get a pic with her.
And, so a little later we did attend her panel, where she talked about being cast in Melrose Place, and how great it was to work with Mel Brooks, how she improved the scene where the laser blast messes up her hair, and more. She also mentioned that John Candy was so nice in person. I asked her about The Fly II, of course, and she spoke of how she got the role, thanks to Brooks, as it was produced by him. She also told us about emoting as Eric Stolz turned into a fly monster, and of how good an actor Stolz is, even, under all that makeup. She mentioned how he liked it with makeup FX, having done Mask, a little before this one. This most also be the first time were she not only talked about those movies, but also the cult flicks The Dorm that Dripped Blood and The Initiation, since they came out, if not ever! But, she looked liked she had a great time answering all the questions and reminiscing about her career.
Later, I went up to Lloyd Kaufman, at the Troma booth. Uncle Lloyd is always such a blast in person! I got Troma's War, which I had finally upgraded to Blu-ray, which he signed. He also signed my copy of Return to Nuke 'Em High Vol. 1, which was already signed by much of the cast. I got pic with him, and, of course, Toxie!
I finally met PJ Soles! Best known for roles in classics like Halloween, Carrie, Rock N' Roll High School, and The Devil's Rejects, she is truly one of the sweetest celebs ever! She liked my Fright-Rags Jaws shirt, which is freaking, no make that ''totally'', awesome! Next, time that she is at a con, I gotta bring my Halloween Blu-ray with me, so that she can sign it.

Picking up immediately after Vol. 1had ended, Lauren (Catherine Corcoran) has slime and blood running down her legs as she showers. Soon after, she unwittingly sprays acidic slime from her body, killing the girls laughing at her. A little bit after, she ends up giving birth to a cute and very funny, little mutant duck/ humanoid baby. You see, he is a result of the duck oral rape that had happen to Lauren in the last film. Meanwhile, Chrissy Goldberg (Asta Paredes) is threatened by the evil Principal Wesley (Babette Bombshell) to stop her blog which deals with the mutant causing, toxic contamination that the man he is cahoots with, Lee Harvey Herzkauf (Lloyd Kaufman, himself) and his company are behind. If she doesn't delete her blog; he will release the video that the traitorous Zack (Zac Amico) has of her and Lauren making out. It will be leaked to a conservative (and honestly uproariously funny) talk show that airs on Tromaville. We also learn that Herzkauf has been sniffing and using the farts of the Troma citizens that he has prisoner to keep himself young.
At the same time, the former Glee club members, who have mutated into the killer, signing, evil punks, henceforth called The Cretins, want revenge on our luscious duo for happened in the last film. And, on top of all of this, Lauren's aforementioned duck, Kevin (Josh Potter) has now mutated even further thanks to exposure to another dose of toxic chemicals and has become a human sized monster. Believe, it or not, things are only about to get crazier, as our sexy and beautiful lesbian couple take on the forces of evil in a climatic battle at Troma High!
Let's cut to the chase right away, Return to Return to Nuke 'Em High AKA Vol. 2 is the funniest horror comedy, probably, since Shaun of the Dead. It is also one of the most wild and over the top genre movie in a many a moon. There is just so much going on, which you get just a taste of in the plot summary above. It amazes me to see that it all fits so well and perfectly in the roughly 90 minute length. It is a true credit to Kaufman's talent that he is able to handle all this crazy shit, so very well and coherently. As much as I adored the first Vol. 1 (which I consider to be one of the 10 best films of 2014), this film actually fucking tops it! And, dear readers, ain't no simple feat!
From start to finish, and beyond as they keep ongoing even during the credits(!), the jokes keep on coming, nonstop one after the other. But, it never gets tiring or stale, and that is a big compliment to both the script and Kaufman's fun and lively directing. I was dying from laughing so hard, and could barely stop to catch my breath and laugh my ass off again!
The humor is raunchy, politically incorrect, timely, and satirical in nature. No group, movie, or person, whether celeb or politician is free or safe. Everybody and everything is equal fodder in the laugh department. The more sensitive viewers out there, might not appreciate that, but hey this movie ain't for them. Of course, splatter plays a big part of the funny moments. Slimey and bloody meltdowns, gooey transformations, amputations, bodies get ripped apart, and more, as blood, slime, and even cum, spray and spill all over the screen, making this an easy 10 on the gore-o-meter, thanks to the special FX which range from very good to excellent.
Nudity is also rampantly displayed. Both of our beautiful leads, Paredes and Corcoran, show skin and give us more hot and sexy lesbian love making. We also get full frontal from many beautiful female extras, including adult star and scream queen Nadia White. And, to show that Troma and Kaufman are equal opportunity exploiters, there is also some male full frontal nudity. Who says these movies are sexist?
The acting is all solid. Everyone has great comedic timing, especially from the leads. Paredes and Corcoran are not only gorgeous, but have great chemistry together and are hilarious and so very likable. It is impossible to not love them! Amico is uproarious as Zak. He seems to be having a blast in his role, and it shows. Plus, he is a brave man willing to it bare all and show his ass and schlong to the world, all in the name of a good, no make that great, laugh. Kaufman makes for a hilarious villain. His Blue Velvet inspired ass-gas sniffing had me in stitches. And, can we please give Josh Potter's Zack the Duck, his own movie? Cause, that would fucking rule! Also, keep your eyes open for all the awesome cameos, including but not limited, to Stan Lee, Lemmy Kilmister, Ron Jeremy, and the Angry Video Game Nerd!
Return to Return to Nuke 'Em High AKA Vol. 2 is an utterly hilarious extravaganza of splatstick. It has everything you could ask for in life: hot babes, lesbians, gore, nudity, cool cameos, kick ass metal and punk music, and more! The jokes are wonderfully offensive, silly in nature, non-stop, and, most importantly, are utterly hilarious. You will bust a fucking gut from laughing so hard. And, speaking of gut busting, the gore is absolutely, fucking spectacular. The cast is amazing and great at comedy. The women are gorgeous, and the nudity is in high quantity, with guys and gals, both, showing the goods. It is, in all, completely and utterly over-the-top, as how many movies can you name where a monster gets hit in the eye with flying splooge?
The truth is, I could probably go on and on about how great this movie is and write a book about all the awesome moments and components it. In short, Troma have a made a masterpiece, one that ranks as one of their truly finest and funniest cinematic moments. They are talking about touring with the film and playing at different places this year. Be sure to catch this, one of the year's very best, as soon as humanly, or mutantly possible!
Yesterday, on March 11, 2017, my friend, and Master's Minion, Freddie and I hit Monster-Mania. It was unquestionably the most brutally cold MM, ever. Well, at least of the ones either of us have ever done. And, it should be noted that Freddie has done way more than me! It was also even more packed than usual thanks to John Cusack and the cast of Stranger Things. I didn't meet either or (although I am a HUGE Strangers fan), but I did meet other celebs and do other fun stuff. Which resulted in us have one hell of a time!
The first person that I went up to was Amy Dumas, AKA Lita. The lovely WWE Hall of Famer was pretty cool and laid back in person. I got the autograph for my friend Alan, while I got the pic with her for myself.
The main autograph room was packed as fuck with fans, so we waited till later in the day to meet the rest of celebs. In that room, I first went up to Adam Green. He is the director of films like the Hatchet I & II, Frozen, and others. Adam is one of the nicest guys ever! He posed for pics for free and signed whatever you brought with you for free. I paid cause I bought season two of the awesome and terribly underrated Holliston, on Bluray, from off his table.
He talked to Freddie and me for a little bit and even told us about the horrors of shooting Hatchet IIIin a real swamp (bugs! bugs in butts! mosquito bites!)! I told him that I recently mentioned the amazing Hatchet II as one of the The 10 Best Slasher Movies You (Probably) Haven’t Seen. He was gracious about that, and is really, an all around awesome dude.
Kristy Swanson was really at the top of my list to must meet this weekend. Her line moved slow and she had to leave to do a photo-op. However, the wait to meet her was worth it! She is so sweet and nice in person, as well as drop-dead gorgeous! She still looks AMAZING! I was dorky enough to tell her that when I was a kid and saw Deadly Friend, that I totally got a major crush on her. She said, "Aww!"
Kristy signed my Deadly Friend DVD cover. She asked if I had the disc with me, but I had only bought the cover. I guess she would have signed the actual disc too? Don't know, but I am so happy to have met her!

Later in the day, I stopped by Troma and got a pic with Lloyd Kaufman and the Troma team! As usual there were some beautiful Tromettes on hand at the con.
I am most happy about the fact that I got to run into my friend, adult performer and horror actress, the drop-dead gorgeous and hot as fucking hell Nadia White! I was a little worried that I would miss her, but that obviously didn't happen. Nadia is so fun, sexy, and bubbly in person, that she really always brightens the mood where ever is at. So, that despite the fact that by this point I was exhausted, I was very feeling joyful, all of a sudden. She had a mold of her butt-hole with, which is pretty fucking hot, needless to say. She told me about all the porn stuff she has lined up. All I will say is that she is one busy, hard working, and naughty babe! You gotta love her!
As I said earlier, we had a fucking blast. It was a great time, that was, for me, quite frankly needed. Great to meet celebs and run into friends. Including, among them was one that I had been friends with forever on Facebook, Elizabeth who runs Archivists Bet on Sexy Witches and The Halloween Horror Movie Marathon Madness over on FB. I also picked up some cool swag, of course: A Funko Pop Predator (which is apparently getting harder to find) Blu-rays of: the aforementioned autographed Holliston season two Turkey Shoot (AKA Escape 2000) from Severin and, I FINALLY own Shout FactoryDeath Wish II Special Edition which features the long unavailable (in the US) unrated cut of it, which I bought of off the Diabolik DVD booth. And, finally from Fright-Rags I got a tee of my favorite movie of all time, Re-Animator and a air of Frankenberry socks!

I did get to hit the Troma booth on that very day. I finally got around to picking up The Toxic Avenger, a classic that I had not owned nor revisited since I owned it on freaking VHS in college! God, that is a lifetime ago! Anwyays, having just rewatched it last week, I can say that it holds up excellently and still fucking rules! Back to NYCC where I talked to Toxie, himself, for a while. What a nice guy he is, taking time off from fighting crime in Tromaville, New Jersey to meet his loving fans!
Lloyd Kaufman, who signed my Blu-ray (left), joked around telling my friend Alan to assure and cradle me, as the Toxic Avenger is not a real character! Wait what?! No way! Uncle Lloyd, you have broken my heart with this knowledge! Next thing I know someone will tell me that the Great Pumpkin isn't real, either!
Towards the end of the day, I passed by the IFC booth (having earlier in the day bought Road Games, which had me at Barbara Crampton! You can see it to the right along with the other swag that I bought on that day). They had an amazing and actual cadaver prop from the upcoming horror flick (Dec. 21, 2016, to be exact) The Autopsy of Jane Doe.

At New York Comic Con (NYCC) on Sat, Oct. 10, 2015, Troma co-founder Lloyd Kaufman gave me a fun, informative, and energetic interview at the Troma booth. I even got cameo appearances by the lovely Catherine Corcoran and the Toxic Avenger who joined us a little later in it. All weekend the Troma booth was THE most fun booth at all of NYCC, and I think that this interview and some of clips contained within, really capture at least a little of that fun.
