"The Sensual World of Black Emanuelle" Unboxing (Pics Only)!

Yesterday, on July 29, 2023, my most anticipated box set ever, Severin Films release of The Sensual World of Black Emanuelle, came in the mail for me. I preordered it a day or two of when they were available to do so, back around April or so, I believe. As a huge fan of the gorgeous and legendary Laura Gemser, Joe D'Amato, and the Italian Emanuelle films, this was a must have for me. When I had it in my hands, finally, I was happier than a pig in filth!

The following is a picture based unboxing. Since I am between the houses right now, I don't have all of my equipment. Though to be fair, there is no way, I could have made this into a YouTube video, what with the nudity, subject matter, and genres/ subgenres covered and included in this set.

At top was the front of the box set, here are sides and back of it:

The front has Emanuelle's camera, which using a dial, you switch between images. They include some nudity, not surprisingly, and even a horse! And, if you know about why the later is included, uhm, sorry for the trauma you experienced, and if you don't, well just use your imagination... Anyway, I've included a few. Hey, I don't wanna ruin ever surprise for you guys!

The set comes 15 discs, 24 films in total, 21 of which are from the Black Emanuelle series plus two adjacent movies starring Ajita Wilson, and Joe D'Amato documentary Inferno Rosso. Also included are two CDs, over 40 hours of extra features(!!) including a docu on Gemser's husband/ co-star Gabriele Tinti, and shit load more. I've seen and own a couple of these movies, but many I have not. The following is where the movies are contained, starting with the front of the encasing, each sleeve where each is disc is enclosed, and ending with the back of it:

Also included in the set is the heavy and thick paperback, The Black Emanuelle Bible. It is edited by the amazing Kier-La Janisse. She wrote the incredible House of Psychotic Women, which I am currently reading. One skim through it will reveal a comprehensive, fascinating, and beautiful looking book:

As I said, I am between houses, so I can't dive into the films and the extra features, but I can't wait to do just that. The mix of horror, exploitation, softcore, hardcore, and, of course, Laura Gemser(!!) and other gorgeous women makes this one that is right up my alley. It may just be the greatest box set in film history, and dear friends and readers, that is not an exaggeration nor is it bullshit.

Chiller Theatre April 2019

On April 27, 2019 it was time to make another trip to the greatest convention in the universe: the legendary Chiller Theatre! And as such, my friend, Freddie, and I headed from New York City to New Jersey for another fun day of horror fandom and meeting awesome celebrities.

The first celeb that I went up was the one I was most looking forward to meeting: Dina Meyer. The beautiful star of Saw I-IV, Piranha 3D, Dragonheart, Starship Troopers, the Birds of Prey TV series and more, is one that I have been a long time fan of. Throughout the whole day, she had a line, as many fans wanted to meet her. Meyer was all smiles, as she met them all.

When, I finally got up to her, I told her that she was the person I had most wanted to meet. She then asked me if wanted a hug. I said yes, and she, awesomely, gave me one! First highlight of a what was shaping up to be an epic day!

The second star, I went up to was the awesome Christine Elise. The lovely star who played Kyle in Child's Play 2 and Cult of Chucky, Emily Valentine on Beverly Hills 90210, among other roles, posed with a Chucky doll (if you decided her to do so) and was really cool in person. She also wore a kick ass Beetlejuice/ Chucky hybrid tee!

 

The last star I up was the most awesome celeb of the day, the beautiful Liane Curtis. In fact, the star of Critters 2, Girlfriend from Hell, Sixteen Candles and more, might very well be the single most awesome celeb that I have ever met at a horror or comic-book convention. Which, if you know or have been following this site for a long time, know that this is saying a lot! She was hilarious, fun, and care-free, as she told us many a kick ass story. She is so energetic and real in person, that it is impossible to not be taken by her cool as hell personality. Here is hoping she returns to Chiller!

Outside of the convention there were some cool as hell parked cars from some classic movies:

The following duo is my favorite cosplay of the day. I have to say that this dude might just be the best Beetlejuice that I have ever seen. Lydia was fucking awesome, as well!

The party was a blast as we hung with friends and listened to awesome music like The Dead Elvi! As is the tradition celebs joined them onstage for all the fun.

I got the following swag at the con:
From Severin Films, I got Blu-rays of: The Horror of Beach Party, Emanuelle and Franciose (neither of which I have ever seen), and Death Warmed Up. The later is an awesome and gory New Zealand horror movie that I have loved since I first saw it on VHS as a teen. I wanted to own it forever. But, it was never available on DVD. Thank you Severin for this release!!!
And, I picked up Screem magazine which got me a free copy of Kiss of the Tarantula (which I have also never seen).

With convention prices getting so high, I only got one autograph. It was Christine Elise's, who signed my Chucky box-set Blu-ray.

So until, the next one, we had a fucking blast at this Chiller!

Monster-Mania: March 2019

On March 9, 2019, my friends, Freddie and Alan (his first time at this con!) headed out to Cherry Hill in New Jersey for the March 2019 edition of Monster-Mania. Needless to say, we had a fucking blast!

This was as hot as a con can get, with Saturday tickets having been sold out in advance. Thankfully, the three of us got ours beforehand. The place was packed, though it would begin to thin out by around 4 or so. 

Anyway, as one would expect certain lines were super long, for example the ones for Neve Campbell and Fairuza Balk were crazy ass long! They were part of The Craft reunion. This was the first time all four of them were doing a con together. Balk was always my favorite in the film, but her line was too much for me to wait (at least two hours from what I heard). I wanted to enjoy myself and had business to conduct, anyway.

I did get the other two actress though, beginning with still beautiful Rachel True. I cannot believe that she is 52, as she clearly does not age! And, best of all, she was so awesome in person! I told her how happy it made me to have all of them at the con. I also talked with her about the amazing Shudder documentary about blacks in, Horror Noire. When she took the pic with me she grabbed my arm and said, "Someone works out!" I said, "Yes, I do!" I can honestly say that this made my year. I can die a happy man! As a matter of fact, True is so awesome in person, that I was dying laughing getting my pic with her!

The next and last person I went up to was the beautiful Robin Tunney. She was very sweet and down to earth in person and even more beautiful! Here eyes are absolutely stunning!

Here is my signed, by them, The Craft DVD. I had pre-ordered the new Scream Factory Blu-ray, but alas it has not come in yet. So, I guess I am keeping my DVD when that disc arrives, which honestly speaking, should be super soon.

After that I has spent so much on autographs that I just deiced to enjoy the con. Here are just some of my favorite cosplays that I saw at the con.
