Knucklebonz Rock Toy Fair 2018

If I had to pick one booth as my favorite for this year's edition of Toy Fair, then it had to be the awesome Knucklebonz! The beautifully accurate rock statues are a metalhead's dream come true! As a life long fan of heavy metal and hard rock music, I was in fucking heaven as soon as I saw their product!

Man, I always feel that there needs to be more Vic Rattlehead (Megadeth's mascot) merch, as there is hardly any at all. Thank the metal gods for Knucklebonz, then!
In fact, they definitely are going to be making fellow Megadeth fans very happy!

There is also a lot for Kiss and Guns N' Roses fans to look forward to!

Lemmy is what first caught my attention and made me head over in a heartbeat over to this booth!

(Video) An Exclusive Interview with Artist Kira Lee at ACA Galleries, NYC

Kira Lee is an amazing NYC based artist. ACA Galleries, in NYC, is currently having an exhibition of her incredible art, called Legends and Lyrics. They her music inspired pieces are of iconic rock artists like John Lennon, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, David Bowie (who gets a whole wall dedicated to him!), Kurt Cobain, and many others. Her art is amazing and truly breathtaking. As you get closer to look at it, you get to truly realize just how much work and heart she puts into her pieces, as you come to realize that they are made up of words and lyrics, inspired by each of the artists.
You can see of the pieces in the pictures displayed in this article, though they do not do them the true justice that they deserve. You simply need to see them for yourself to truly get the depth of their beauty.

I am a huge fan of her work and had the utmost pleasure of talking to her about on them at the public opening of her art show, last week on Feb. 2, 2017.
You can see the interview in the video below:

Her gallery will be on display through March 4, 2017 at the ACA Galleries on 529 W20th St, #5E. Do yourself a favor go as soon as you can! I guarantee that you will be glad that you did.

Kiss Rocks Vegas (Review)

Kiss and Vegas go perfectly together. Their merging is basically a no-brainer. So, hence when they did a residency back in 2014 at the Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, it made perfect sense. One of those nights was capture for a new concert film called Kiss Rocks Vegas. It played one night only at the movies on May 25, 2016, and I got a chance to catch it.

At the beginning if the film, we have the band members talking about the show, what went into it, their ideas, etc for roughly fifteen minutes. Then we go right into concert. The band sounds great and the stage is huge,  filled with fire, explosions, hydraulics, etc. Everything is just spectacular!

All the classic live Kiss moments are here. Band members rising, guitars shooting fire, etc. Of course, there is also Simmons' breathing fire and spitting blood. This all accompanied by huge screens playing various images that go with the songs and shots of the band.

The concert, itself, was shot with excellent camera work, getting you right into the action, with some kick ass and exciting close-ups. This is all intercut with audience reaction shots including male Kiss fans, hot girls, and cute kids. Some audience members are, if course, wearing Kiss makeup!

The setlist represents a good variety of the different eras in the bands decades long career. They even pick three songs off of Creatures of the Night, my second favorite Kiss album of all time. Said setlist consists of:

1. Detroit Rock City
2. Creatures of the Night
3. Psycho Circus
4. Parasite
5. War Machine
(Gene breathes fire)
6. Tears Are Falling
7. Deuce
8. Lick It Up
(with "Won't Get Fooled Again"… more )
9. I Love It Loud
10. Hell or Hallelujah
11. Bass Solo
(Gene spits blood and flies)
12. God of Thunder
13. Do You Love Me
14. Love Gun
(Paul flies out to audience… more )
15. Black Diamond

Encore:
1. Shout It Out Loud
2. Rock and Roll All Nite

God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You II (Over end credits)

I cannot wait for this concert to hit blu-ray!! I will definitely be getting it. And, if you're a fellow Kiss you'll want to do the same! !

The 175 Greatest Heavy Metal Album Covers of all Time Pt. 11: 70-61

70. Metallica- Ride the Lightning- The second album from the seminal thrash metal band is a true  metal classic. And, the cover with lightning hitting an electric chair (a direct reference to the amazing title track) is just as iconic.

69. Cattle Decapitation- Humanure- The third album by these deathgrinders had an ultra-controversial cover where a cow shits out human flesh. It was nasty enough that they had to put out a censored cover without the cow and only the wasteland, for some stores. Personally, I love it. It's always good to offend people!

68. Immortal- All Shall Fall- The eighth studio album by this black metal band has a metallic, frozen door with a face and two raven heads. The album, itself, is as cool as it's cover!

67. Autopsy- Severed Survival- This is the alternate cover to the debut album of this death metal band. It's a classic of the genre as crazed, bloodied surgeons loom on to operate. Pretty cool and scary looking, too!

66. Dissection- The Somberlain- Classic debut by this Swedish black metal act has cool artwork of a dark, ghostly figure on a horse drawn carriage that was drawn by Kristian Wahlin.

65. Killswitch Engage- The End of Heartache- The third studio album by this metalcore act is one of the sub-genre's very best! The cover of a heart-shaped pincushion held by blood-covered hands is one of the most beautiful in all of metal.

64. Morbid Angel- Gateways to Annihilation- The sixth studio by this Floridan death metal features an amazing painted cover by Dan Seagrave. It is of some monstrous temple and a gateway opening up right by it. This is the first painted cover that the band used since their classic Blessed Are the Sick.

63. Kiss- Love Gun- The sixth studio album by these hard rockers has a classic cover by Ken Kelly. The band and it's groupies look fucking awesome on it! Of note, is the long standing joke/ rumor/ whatever that Gene says that he invented the devil horns hand gesture on this album. While, I have no idea if he ever said this, I wouldn't put it underneath him. And, to that I say whatever buddy!

62. KoRn- Issues- For the fourth studio album nu-metal band Korn ran a contest and the first place winner to be used as the cover is the one I picked, here. Drawn by Alfredo Carlos, we see a ripped and abandoned doll. It has a tragic look and feel of possible child abuse or sadness, not an uncommon theme with the band.

61. Avenged Sevendfold- Nightmare- The fifth studio album by popular Cali metal/ hard rock band A7X has amazing and creepy art by Travis Smith with a little girl terrorized in her nightmares, of course, by the band's mascot looming over a graveyard.

The 175 Greatest Heavy Metal Album Covers of all Time Pt. 5: 130-121

130. Marduk- Fuck Me Jesus- Ubber-controversial cover to Swedish black metal band Marduk's debut EP features a hot naked chick shoving crucifix up her snatch. Maybe they watched The Exorcist a lot? Whatever the case maybe, I recall the ad for the rerelease of the album in Metal Maniacs ages ago, and it immediately caught my eye. Definitely one of the most shocking looking covers in my entire list.

129. Slayer- Divine Intervention- The Slayer wheel gets a cool redux here with a skeleton and a skull with the image of space in its background. Interestingly the name of the band or album are not on the cover, itself.

128. Iron Maiden- Brave New World- This great album cover has the upper half done by classic Maiden artist Derek Riggs, while the bottom half by Steve Stone, as Bruce Dickinson returned after those two AWFUL albums with Blaze Bayley. A solid album all the way with a beautiful looking cover as a ghostly Eddie looks over a futuristic world.

127. Marduk- Heaven Shall Burn... When We Are Gathered- A bunch of orks gather for a battle in the second Marduk cover to make this part of the list.

126. Megadeth- The World Needs a Hero- Vic Rattlehead busts out of a man's chest, ala Alien, as he makes his return to being on Megadeth album covers. The bloody cover and return of their mascot signifies the return towards a heavier sound after the godawful Risk.

125. W.A.S.P.- Animal (Fuck Like a Beast)- One of the most infamous albums is this EP (featuring the equally infamous song of the same name) with the sawblade codpiece/ crotch shot. This one infuriated the PMRC and was used as example of all that was considered wrong by these jackasses in music, in particular metal music, back then. The combination of violence and sexiaulity makes for a classic and iconic cover that sums up the old days of W.A.S.P., quite well.

124. Motley Crue- Dr. Feelgood- The best selling of Motely's albums has what is probably their best looking cover. It's basically a metalizied version of the caduceus, the medical symbol, with a skull, one snake, a dagger, and demon wings. Their ever changing logo also looked the coolest that it EVER has!

123. Kiss- Destroyer- With gorgeous art by fantasy artist Ken Kelly, this one of Kiss' most famous and popular albums. Our face painted heroes stand over rocks as fire and destruction are in the background. Unquestionably one of the most iconic metal/ hard rock album covers of the 70s.

122. Toxic Holocaust- An Overdose of Death...- The third album by American thrash metal Toxic Holocaust is probably their best looking and coolest cover as evil looking wolves are seemingly all that is left after some sort of, well, toxic holocaust.

121. Nervosa- Victim of Yourself- The most recent album in the entire list is the debut from this Brazilian, all female thrash metal act. It looks really old school and cool, as a skull guy stabs his clone/ twin/ himself/ whatever in a cemetery no less!!
