P2 (Review)

Title: P2
Director: Franck Khalfoun
Writers: Franck Khalfoun, Alexandre Aja, Gregory Levasseur
Cast: Wes Bentley, Rachel Nichols, Simon Reyonlds, Philip Akin
Year: 2007
Min: 98

It is Christmas Eve and Angela (Rachel Nichols), a young and beautiful business woman working in Manhattan, NY, is ready to head to her family's house for the holidays She soon realizes that her car isn't working and had to ask the parking attendant, Thomas (Wes Bentley), for some help. Unfortunately, nothing seems to be going her way. She is trapped inside the parking garage with and by Thomas who has a sick obsession with her. His violent, psychotic behavior terrifies her, and this Christmas Eve becomes a fight to escape with her life.
P2 is slow building and nail-biting, suspenseful, horror/ thriller. This sometimes overlooked movie really ranks among the best of the Christmas horror movies. Though simple in its structure and nature, it succeed thanks to tense directing and excellent acting.
Co-writer and director Franck Khalfoun slowly but surely builds on the tension. The movie increasingly keeps you on the edge, as it builds to the exciting and rousing climax. The use of the holiday of Christmas is great because it adds to making her ordeal of being trapped by him alone very real and believable. This is upped by choosing the parking garage as the setting of the film, which can be by their very nature desolate and creepy. That being said, we New Yorkers will wonder why she drives to work and not takes public transportation. In fact, this movie reaffirms my desire to never drive to the city!
While, there is not a huge body count, it is very violent and bloody. The first kill in particular is gruesome and realistic looking, thank to the excellent make-up FX. The movie's gruesome violence helps to raise the stakes and me it more shocking and white-knuckle experience.
Besides the nerve-shredding directing and excellent setting, the other true highlight is the acting. For the most part, the movie is a two person movie. And, you need excellent acting for this to truly work. Thank goodness then that both Wes Bentley and Rachel Nichols deliver this in droves. Bently is terrifying and creepy as fuck. On the drop of the dime he can realistically go from sweet to dangerously angry and threatening. But, even when he is being "nice" there remains an air of total creepiness. It's my favorite role of his.
Just like the role of Angela is my favorite of Rachel Nichols. In fact, she is one of my favorite final girls ever. Nichols plays her so believably and strongly that we cheer her on. She is vulnerable with the right amount of toughness; a good person caught in nightmarish situation. Of course, Nichols is absolutely gorgeous. I recently added the to this site's Horror Crushes, as she is most certainly a horror crush of anyone who sees this movie. And, let's call a spade a spade, she has some of the greatest cleavage that you will ever see in a horror flick. Both Nichols and Bentley pay so well of each other and have a great protagonist/ antagonist relationship that really drives the movie to the stratosphere.
P2 is a Christmas holiday season viewing tradition of mine for good reason. I've loved this movie since I first saw it as a blind buy when it first hit DVD. Suspenseful, violent, and with two superlative leads; it's a movie that deserves to be seated next to other holiday fear classics. If you have never seen it, you need to change that right fuckin now! And, if you have watched this nerve-shredder, watch it again. You need to make P2 part of your holiday viewing traditions as well. In all P2 holds an excellent level of holiday fear and tension.

WinterCon 2016: "The Road Warrior" Reunoin

Perhaps the coolest thing that happened at WinterCon 2016 was The Road Warrior reunion. That classic is one of my favorite movies of all time, as well as being one of the greatest sequels ever made. It's the rare one, that actually tops its classic first film.

As such there was lots of cosplay from the film (I think there should be more Road Warrior cosplay, personally speaking) and the franchise, as a whole. The cosplayers posed for pics around the props from the movie. Directly below are pics of the props:

More of the cosplayers:

The reunion included many of the major supporting characters and main antagonists of the cult classic. The actors present were:
Bruce Spence (The Gyro Captain)
Vernon Wells (Wez)
Kjell Nilsson (Lord Humungus)
Emil Minty (Feral Kid)
Virgina Hey (Warrior Woman)

What was really cool is they that they joined the cosplayers for some kick ass pics!! How often does that happen? Not nearly enough, if ever, I say!

I got to meet and interview a couple of them. Those posts are coming soon, in the meantime here I am meeting the very friendly and awesome Kjell Nilsson who played Lord Humungus, one of my favorite villains ever, and one of my favorite characters in the entire Mad Max universe!

Horror Crush: Rachel Nichols

It's been a while since I added a babe to the Horror Crushes section of this site. With this being Christmas season and all, I figured I would add a babe from a Christmas horror movie. So, with that in mind let us induct the gorgeous Rachel Nichols. You can consider this an early Christmas present from me to you!
Rachel Nichols was born on January 8, 1980 in Augusta, Main, though she began her modeling career here in New York City, while attending Columbia University. I first developed a crush on her thanks to her role on Alias, which began in 2005. That same year she appeared in her first horror movie, the remake of The Amityville Horror.
The movie, itself, is a pretty decent remake of the original. Admit ably that movie isn't great, but it's pretty good. It is up for debate as to which of these two is the better film. I prefer the original, but not by that much and totally get those who like the remake more. Anyway, one of her costars here is one of this site's earliest inductions into Horror Crushes: Melissa George (see pic above)! Anyway, Nichols plays a naughty and sexy as fuck babysitter.
She's pretty good, I suppose, though she isn't given much to do other than play a stereotypical bad teenage chick. The son in the movie develops a crush on her, and that is understandable as hell. Now, I never had a babysitter, in my life. But, if they all look like Nichols, I sure as hell would've loved to have one! I would have been the happiest kid on God's green earth! I mean look at that stomach! That's what I call perfect!
Her next horror flick is one of her best roles and best flicks that she's been in: P2. A nail-biting and suspenseful horror thriller, Rachel plays Angela Bridges a young businesswoman who has a parking attendant, Thomas (Wes Bentley) trap her in a Manhattan building's parking garage on Christmas Eve. The movie has excellent acting from both performers and really ranks among the best of Christmas horror movies.
I would talk more about the movie, but you guys seem to be loving my recent Christmas horror flick reviews, so I think I will work on doing a review for this one. Anyways, like I said she is perfectly cast in the role, giving a good range of emotions. She also looks quite perfect, herself. Her cleavage might be one of the greatest in horror movie history.
Her next horror flick is the genre bending and vicious, Raze (which I reviewed sometime back). She has a rather small but pivotal role. Her fight with lead actress Zoe Bell really sets the tone for this overlooked exploitation flick. Nichols is quite good in her role, and looks, of course, quite good, as well.
Being that I watch P2 every year during the holiday season Rachel Nichols holds a very special place in my heart. Beautiful, sexy, and a great actress, I actually think she is sometimes overlooked. Anyway the point is that she rightfully deserves her inclusion as a Horror Crush!

The 70 Hottest Babes of 2016, pt. 4: 40-31

40. Kimberly Freeman (last year #34)- The beautiful Kimberly Freeman of One-Eyed Doll remains one of rock's most original and cool frontwomen. She's specially awesome live, which I got to do, again in April of this year. Freeman is also one of the music world's most legitimately sweethearted talents that you'll find anywhere.

39. Nadia White (new)- Adult performer and horror movie actress, Nadia White is one of the most fucking awesome babes that you will find in the entire world. Sexy as fuck, she is the very definition of a bombshell. Plus, I had the complete pleasure of not only finally meeting her in person but interviewing her last month at Exxxotica NJ.

38. Caity Lotz (last year same)- The very yummy Caity Lotz' character of Sarah Lance, AKA the White Canary, is just as badass as ever, expect now she is leading the ragtag hero team on Legends of Tomorrow. She is always a shining star and highlight of that show (or any of the DC TV universe that she guest stars), even in the weakest of the episodes. As portrayed be her, the White Canary always looks hot and likes girls. That right there, makes her the sexiest superheroine ever!

37. Emily Hampshire (last year #54)- Emily Hampshire's character Jennifer Goines on one of the greatest sci-fi shows of all time, 12 Monkeys, is one of the most fun, complex, and fascinating character on all of TV right. The gorgeous Ms. Hampshire turns in amazing performances in each and every of the series. And, the thing is her character just keeps getting better and better! Which is just one of many why she jumped so high up on the list.

36. Eva Green (last year #18)- Penny Dreadful was one of the finest horror shows on TV. The impossibly gorgeous Eva Green was giving some of the finest performances that you'll ever seen on any TV series. Sadly the show ended abruptly this year. Oh, and the ending sucked, as did what happened to Green's character.

35. Margot Robbie (new)- No matter what you thought of Suicide Squad, ya gotta admit that the beautiful Margot Robbie was one of the main highlights, if not THE main highlight of the movie. As Harley Quinn, she was perfectly cast, and looked AMAZING in that outfit. Her character launched a million, and counting, cosplays at comic conventions everywhere on God's green Earth. And, with an ass like that she undoubtedly launched a million naughty fanboy, and fangirl, fantasies.

34. Riley Reid (new)- Riley Reid and her amazing behind, one of my favorite butts in the world, always have a hell of a line at AEE, and this year was no exception. Expect that I finally got to meet her, and she is fucking AWESOME in person! On top of that, she was up for and won awards at AVN, all of which she deserved.

33. Mixi (new)- The beautiful and tatted signer of Stitched Up Heart, Mixi is so sweet and down-to-earth in person, that I don't think my mere words can do her enough justice. On top of that her love for animals, in particular cats, further proves that she beautiful inside and out. Her band released their debut album, Never Alone, which is a very solid album, and I got catch them live when they opened for Sick Puppies in the spring.

32. Gillian Anderson (new)- The X-Files, one of the greatest horror/ sci-fi shows of ALL time, came back this year for a mini-series. And, it was awesome! Gillian Anderson, and everyone else, were great in their returning roles. Anderson looks more beautiful than ever, though fellow horror fans who were watching Hannibal before the this show came back on, already knew this fact.

31. Gina Carano (last year ranked 2013 #62)- After a 3 year absence from the list, the sexy as fuck Gina Carrano returns, doubling her ranking! And, it is all thanks to her looking legitimately delicious and badass as Angel Dust in Deadpool. Seriously, that movie fortified my crush on her. Bad girls! You gotta love them!

Exxxotica NJ 2016: Anna Bell Peaks and Romi Rain

Present at last month's Exxxotica NJ 2016 were Anna Bell Peaks and Romi Rain, two of the best and sexiest in the in biz! Both are extremely popular with fans and are awards winners. In fact, they were up for and won awards later that night at the Inked Awards. I hadn't seen either since I interviewed them earlier this year at the Adult Entertainment Expo, so it was also good to catch up with them.

Anna looked amazing, and we got to talk about her role, as Killer Frost, and scene in Suicide Squad XXX: An Axel Braun Parody. She remained genuinely flattered that in my review I spoke so highly of her threesome scene. But, what can I say? I love that scene and consider it one of my favorites of the year. It is certainly my favorite threesome of 2016!

Romi Rain looked awesome and hot as hell in a Wonder Woman outfit. The geek in me was very happy to see her as DC comics' legendary heroine. Of course, she played her in a Brazzers porn parody. In fact, this was the same outfit that she wore in that!

Beautiful and tatted, these lovely ladies are among hottest and best performers in the biz. As aside, from their beauty they are genuinely friendly, all of which makes them a pleasure to see. Throw in the whole DC comic connection, via their parodies, and you have two of my favorites and with good reason.
