The Return of New York Comic Con 2021, Part 2: Saturday!

As I mentioned in the first part of my New York Comic Con (NYCC) report, while I was there on Thursday, I couldn't make in on Friday, but I was back on Saturday. This was also the only day, that I choose to cosplay. I'll definitely do more at the next comic or sci-fi con, but for now, this was fine. And, once again I was Captain America from Avengers: Infinity War.

Due to the pandemic related limited attendance, this was definitely the least packed Saturday, that I have ever seen at NYCC. But, regardless, it was an absolute blast to attend, and I had an even more awesome time than I had on Thursday!

This was the day that I decided to some celeb meeting. First and foremost I met legendary wrestling announcer Tony Schiavone. The former voice of WCW and currently AEW Dynamite, he was and is a huge part of my wrestling memories. I honestly believe that he is doing some of his finest work in AEW. In person, he was so nice and down to earth. It felt like he genuinely loves meeting his fans, even a dorky loser like me, who was like, "I'm such a huge and long time fan!" Jesus Christ, could I have sounded lamer if I tried?

I also met one of the artists that works on Garbage Pail Kids (GPK) trading cards. He was at the Topps booth and was signing an exclusive set of Oh the Horrible, their horror movie parody GPK cards.

And, now here are some more cosplay highlights, including some of my own:

Honestly, this might be my favorite cosplay that I saw at NYCC this year! As a life long Jaws fan, I found it to be both awesome and hilarious! If someone reading this knows and her and could let her know how incredible this is, please do so!

And, on this day I bought, besides those GPK horror cards I mentioned earlier, a Toy Tokyo exclusive Masters of the Universe Zodac Funko Pop.

To be concluded!

VENDETTA (2015)

Title: Vendetta
Directors: Jen and Sylvia Soska
Writer: Justin Shady
Cast: Dean Cain, Paul "Big Show" White, Micheal Eklund, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Adrain Holmes, Matthew MacCaull
Year: 2015
Min: 90

Detective Mason (Dean Cain) has arrested crime boss Victor Abbott (Paul "Big Show" White), but when Abbott is released on a technicality he heads to Mason's house. There he beats Mason's pretty wife (Kyra Zagorsky) to death. Abbott soon ends up back in the slammer. Afterwards, Mason guns down Abbott's brother and crew in hopes of getting arrested and going to jail, himself. With them both being locked up at the same prison, Mason's plan for vengeance is set in motion. But, he learns that there is a criminal enterprise being run from the prison, itself, with someone being above Abbott, himself.

The fourth full length feature film from the Soska sisters continues to show that they can do wrong. Vendetta is a solid and entertaining revenge/ prison film. While, this is the first time they have moved away from the horror genre; they manage to keep their horror influences clearly on their sleeves.

While, the script by Justin Shady breaks no new ground and is fairly unoriginal, the movie is raised above being a throw away film, thanks to the talent behind and in front of the camera. The Soska's prove that they are very good at directing hard hitting (literally in many cases action). This is a movie where the red stuff flows freely and might just be their most brutal and gruesome movie, yet. And, unlike the ultra-violent Dead Hooker in a Trunk  (the movie that they made that comes closest to the gore quanta on this), this one is played straight up and serious. It moves at a breakneck pace, rarely stopping or slowing down. And, the aforementioned brutality includes stabbings, gory squibs, broken necks, bloody beat-downs, and lots more graphic and bloody mayhem all of which help it rank among the bloodiest movie of this kind, around.

The acting is surprisingly strong. And, while everyone involved is good, it's the two leads that really shine. Dean Cain is a legitimate badass. I am really not fan of Lois and Clark, but he leaves Superman far behind delivering something much closer to the Punisher. Those expecting a goody two shoes Cain should look elsewhere. Then, there is Paul White, better known as the Big Show in WWE (and the Giant before that in WCW), who simply kills it (pun intended). I did not at all expect him to be this damn good. He plays a truly evil and intimating villain. And, while his huge size certainly comes into this equation, it wouldn't mean shit unless he has the talent to back it up. And, thank God he does.

In all Vendetta is a kick ass, bad motherfucker of a movie. Thanks to the huge talent of everyone involved, what could have been pedestrian is raised far and above it's content. Action packed, tough as nails, and bloody as hell this is an action movie that will please those who like their action movies with a definite edge and far away removed from Hollywood's typically bloodless PG13 action tripe. Another notch in the Soska twins film making belt, this might be the best movie WWE Studios has yet to put out.

Samurai Girl

Last month when I made the ravishing Jami Chung the Hot Asian Girl of the Month, I promised that I would review this when it came out, and I like to keep my promises. So here it goes:

Heaven (Jamie Chung) is forced to marry some douchebag. But, low and behold, ninjas attack her wedding (damn don't you hate when that happens?)! In the melee, here dad is accidentally shot and wounded. And, her brother, whom their daddy hates, gets a knife stuck in him and croaks. But he manages to warn here, that she is to trust no one, and to look for some dude named Jack Stanton (Brendan Fehr). She gets help from a geeky white dude named Otto (Kyle Labine), who very understandably gets a major crush on her, and his cute blonde roommate, Cheryl (Saige Thompson). They help her find Jack; he trains her. As she is to be some badass samurai babe. And, guess what? They both like each other! Damn that is so original! In the meantime, she must find out what the fuck is happening, what her dad has too with it, and deal with the Yakuza and their ninjas! Wow! It's hard being a hot samurai girl!

Let me start by saying that this mini-series, that ends tonight. It is three parts long, each at two hours in length, is way to long for this crap. OK, actually this started out OK (but remember my expectations were as low as an earthworm crawling on your backyard), but by the second hour of the first part, I was already beginning to doubt the worthiness of this shit. Anywho, the second two hour part was pretty lame, with the last 20 min or so being pretty much crap.

It is all very predictable and unoriginal, looking like some sort of Kill Bill, minus the gore, with an insanely hot Asian girl, while trying to be a poor man's Veronica Mars (coincidentally both Chung and Thompson have been on that show). You can figure out everything that will happen in this shit, everything. Trust me.

There is a lot of action, and it is done decently enough. But here, is one of many issues. While, the movie is on ABC Family, it is actually pretty violent for a kid's show (including an off-camera, hinted at decapitation), it is not violent enough for action fans. There is a lot of lame young love type shit. That said, there is some tension in the scene where Heaven goes to get some computer info from dad, but there is little of this. The truth is our heroes always feel safe and never really threatened.

Beyond that the acting ranges from standard to wooden. Only Chung shines here. She is perfectly cast as Heaven, as well, at the risk of sounding corny, is heavenly! She is without a doubt THE reason I sat through it, and will finish it tonight. I am pretty sure I know how it will all end. Anyway, getting back to Chung she is a goddess. An amazing beauty that kicks some major ass . Too bad it was not in a better film.

Fellow wrestling fans should note that former WCW/ WWE star Stacy Keebler, is in this. She did not appear until last night's part two. She plays a chick from Jason's past. Hey, remember trust no one! If you can't figure out where this is headed then, maybe this film is written for you... By the way, I should mention that Kiebler is a terrible actress, and proves that unless she shaking her ass in the wrestling ring , I could give a flying fuck about her. That and Chung smokes her, completely. No competition, between them whatsoever, at least not in my book.

Needless to say, this not Kill Bill or Shogun Assassin and there are better movies with hot Asian girls kicking ass (any of a number of pinky violence films and stuff like So Close). But, if you like me, are a fan of Ms. Chung , or beautiful, Asian woman in general, you should see it. Well, just be sure that you have A LOT of patience and an open mind. Barely a ** out of ****

Whatever Happened to: Kimona Wanalaya?

Every once in a while, I will pick a hot babe and wonder what she is up to. Sometimes, i will be able to answer it myself, sometimes, as in this case, i will not be able to. Anyways, my first babe to get this treatment is ECW/ WCW valet, the gorgeous Kimona Wanalaya.

Born Kristina Laum , in Seoul, South Korea on Nov. 23, 1976, she had a short but memorable career in the world of pro-wrestling.

She began her career as valet to Raven in ECW. There she had two memorable moments. One she danced atop of the ECW
arena and stripped. And, the other being the classically controversial lesbo angle with her and Beulah.

She would then go to Jersey All Pro Wrestling, but then return to TV in WCW valeting for the Varsity Club (Kevin Sullivan, mike Rutundo, and Rock Steiner) as the cheerleader Leia Meow. She would do stuff like jump on a trampoline, which was a total rip-off of the Man Show. But, she looked so fucking that no one, in their right mind could be complaining!

After, this she would manage the Jung Dragons(Jamie-San, Yun Yang, and Kaz Hayazhi). Shewore a dominatrix outfit and carried a riding crop! She looked so YUMMY in this outfit!!!!!! Spank me, please!!

This match has her a bunch of other WCW hotties involved:

But, alas, WCW was bought by the WWF, and Vince McMahon let her go, cause he sux! She then went to X Wrestling Federation, but when XFW was done, so was she with pro-wrestling.

According to one website she lives in Maple Shade Township, Jersey. I have no clue what she is up to, but I would love to see her return to wrestling and/ or do a Chiller convention. Either way I miss this beautiful, sexy, exotic goddess!
