New York Comic Con 2022: Thursday

This past Thursday, October 6, 2022, marked the first full capacity New York Comic Con (NYCC) since 2019. As, you might remember last year's was a scaled back version due to COVID. While, the website and their social media stated that masks were mandatory at this one, it wasn't enforced, except in panels (more on that in a later installment). I did wear mine, throughout the con cause, I wanted to play it safe. And, honestly it's just a fucking mask, and I have zero desire to get sick .

Anyways, this was the first year, I decided to cosplay all four days, something I plan to do from here on in at Comic Con. I also debuted two new cosplays, which you will see in the next installments of my Comic Con coverage. But, for the first day I cosplayed as the Avengers: Infinity War Captain America, once again.

As this was the least, comparatively, crowded day, I got to do most of my shopping. And, of course, I got to look at more booths. Here are a few highlights:

The Playmobil booth had some really fun toys displayed.

I am really loving the product that HandMade by Robots are doing:

Finally, we got Super7, easily the booth I spent the most at this year:

And, now here are just some of my favorite cosplays and other cool sights from this first day:

Here is what I actually bought on this day:
From TeeTurtle: a con exclusive Seal of Disapproval shirt
From HandMade by Robots: a limited edition Jack Skelington glow in the dark vinyl figure
From Super7: a glow in the dark Muckman and Joe Eyeball Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ultimate action figure (I also bought a glow in the dark Reaction figure of Mothra, but she sold out. So, they're sending her to me in the mail. Keep your eyes on my Instagram and Twitter for when I receive her, as I'll definitely post pics.)
And, a Funko Pop of Eagly from Peacemaker. The guy at booth hiked that Captain America was buying an American eagle Pop. To which we both said "'Merica fuck yeah!"

Be sure to come back and follow for all my reports on the next couple of days, as I have a bunch of fun pics and stories to share!

WinterCon 2022

The weekend of March 12 & 13, 2022 marked the return of WinterCon to Resorts World NYC in Queens, New York. The last time the event had been held was way back in December of 2019. Thanks to COVID it wasn't held the following year. Then, in 2021, it was set to take place in December, but Omicron changed those plans. And, it was postponed till this month. But, the end result was more than worth the wait!

The guest list was awesome! With the main appeal, to me, being the Aliens cast reunion. That James Cameron sci-fi/ horror/ action classic is my second favorite movie of all time. I had been wanting to meet the cast forever, with Jennette Goldstein being at the very top of the list. She played the badass and tough as nails Private Vasquez, one of my favorite characters in a film filled with incredible characters. She was super sweet in person.

The other person I was looking forward to meeting was the original Michael Myers from John Carpenter's Halloween, himself, Nick Castle! He also played him in parts of the last two entries in the franchise, Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills. While, I had seen him at various horror cons, I never did go up to him till now. He was really nice in person.

Basically this means that I got autographs for two of my favorite movies of all time! You can see them in the pic below.

The Aliens cast was reunited onstage for a really cool and informative panel.

As you may have noticed, I was in my Captain America, Avengers: Infinity War cosplay. And, as always I was really excited to see other people's cosplays. While there wasn't a whole lot of them on Sunday, there were some cool ones on hand. Was there more on Saturday? If you know this to be the case let me know in the comments section below. Anyway, here are some of my favorite cosplays that I saw on Sunday:

I also got to run into my friend and all around awesome cosplayer, Miss. Cheng. We chatted for a bit catching up since the last time I saw her, coincidently was at the last WinterCon. As always, her cosplay was cool as hell! She was D.Va from Overwatch, this time around.

Finally, I got to buy some cool toys and got some killer deals on them! I picked up Funko Pops of Fantastic Four's H.E.R.B.I.E. and a Walmart exclusive of Chatterer from Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (even though he isn't in that movie, but I digress) and an Ultimate Macready from John Carpenter's The Thing by NECA (which I actually scored for $25!).

I had an absolute blast at WinterCon, which remains one of my favorite conventions around. I hope this upward trend continues, and we will have more cons. Were you at WinterCon, and if so what did you enjoy the most? Let me know in the comments section.

The Return of New York Comic Con 2021, Part 2: Saturday!

As I mentioned in the first part of my New York Comic Con (NYCC) report, while I was there on Thursday, I couldn't make in on Friday, but I was back on Saturday. This was also the only day, that I choose to cosplay. I'll definitely do more at the next comic or sci-fi con, but for now, this was fine. And, once again I was Captain America from Avengers: Infinity War.

Due to the pandemic related limited attendance, this was definitely the least packed Saturday, that I have ever seen at NYCC. But, regardless, it was an absolute blast to attend, and I had an even more awesome time than I had on Thursday!

This was the day that I decided to some celeb meeting. First and foremost I met legendary wrestling announcer Tony Schiavone. The former voice of WCW and currently AEW Dynamite, he was and is a huge part of my wrestling memories. I honestly believe that he is doing some of his finest work in AEW. In person, he was so nice and down to earth. It felt like he genuinely loves meeting his fans, even a dorky loser like me, who was like, "I'm such a huge and long time fan!" Jesus Christ, could I have sounded lamer if I tried?

I also met one of the artists that works on Garbage Pail Kids (GPK) trading cards. He was at the Topps booth and was signing an exclusive set of Oh the Horrible, their horror movie parody GPK cards.

And, now here are some more cosplay highlights, including some of my own:

Honestly, this might be my favorite cosplay that I saw at NYCC this year! As a life long Jaws fan, I found it to be both awesome and hilarious! If someone reading this knows and her and could let her know how incredible this is, please do so!

And, on this day I bought, besides those GPK horror cards I mentioned earlier, a Toy Tokyo exclusive Masters of the Universe Zodac Funko Pop.

To be concluded!
