With me back to writing here on a regular basis (or at least as much so as adulting allows for), I am back to posting about conventions. Now, I never stopped going to cons during the hiatus, just didn't wrtite about them. With that in mind, let's with a trip to this past weekend's Monster-Mania!
My friend's and I went to the Saturday, August 15, 2026 edition of the three day event. Celeb prices were fucking awful so I only paid for one autograph, my friend Catherine Corcoran. I had not seen her in years, so it took a bit for her to recognize me. But, when she did, she got happy and gave me a big, old hug. It was really great to catch with her.
My friend Freddie did go up to a lot more celebs than I did. Among them was the lovely Heather Langenkamp, who is of course one of the greatest final girls of all time in the form of Nancy of A Nightmare on Elm Street. I met her ages ago at one of the old Famgoria Weekend of Horrors. When I told her that she was like wow! That was like 30 years ago! That's crazy huh? Anways, she let the three of us get in the pic. She is a true legend and did not need to do that. That only makes me an even bigger fan of hers.
The last person I went up to was Pinhead from Hellraiser, himself, Doug Bradley. This is actually my third time meeting him. He was taking free pics with fans! More people should do stuff this cool.
I absolutely LOVED Obsession, so I totally flipped for this group cosplay of it.
Catherine's autograph is the only one I got, but it is a great addition to my Terrifier Blu-ray.

And, so ends another fun time, You know I been going through a rough patch, as I have been missing someone and dealing with the fallout. So, it was wonderful to be out with my friends and having a great time at a convention. Until the next one!
Today on Horror Crushes I am going with one of Freddy Kruger's prettiest victims, the blonde and beautiful Brooke Theiss! While, I mentioned her in an all blonde edition of Horror Crushes, it is time to make it official and induct her in by herself.
Thesis was born on Oct. 23, 1969 (making her 46) in Palos Verdes, California. Her first role was in 1988's Little Nikita, but I know her from her breakthrough role in A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 4: The Dream Master released the same year. In that sequel, Freddy kills part 3's Kristen (pretty Tuesday Knight replacing Patricia Arquette). He uses her friend Alice (the gorgeous Lisa Wilcox), who Kristen has passed her dream powers to, to enter the dreams of her friends. He needs her as those kids aren't the original Elm Street teens (IE the kids of the parents who immolated him), and he can't enter their dreams without using her. Theiss plays tough 80s babe, Deb.
Deb is a total 80s hottie with big hair and studded accessories. That right there sealed the deal for me as a little kid, since I have always liked rocker girls. Deb is into working out and has a fear of bugs. So naturally Freddy kills her in a manner that combines both things. As she is working out, Freddy breaks her arms by pushing the weights down on her. Roach legs comes out and replace her forearms, which fall to the floor. Eventually, she is turned into a complete roach that is stuck in a roach motel. Freddy then crushes it resulting in goop pouring out. It all amounts to the movie's most spectacular, gruesome, and memorable death. It is a fan favorite and years later would even get it's own figure (left).
Following the amazing third installment, Dream Warriors, which is the finest slasher sequel, ever, Dream Master is a solid, though not as great flick. Fun and imaginative it made more than $49.3 million in the US at the time of its' release. It remained the highest grossing film in the franchise till Freddy Vs. Jason came out years later. Thesis was a huge crush of mine back then, along with the beautiful and aformentioned Lisa Wilcox (you can see both beauties below), who played final girl Alice, making this one pretty special for me growing up. Thesis is quite good and likable in her role. It's one of the things ANOES had over Fridaythe 13th sequels: better and more likable characters, in my opinion, anyways.
While, not horror, in any way, shape, or form sitcom Just the 10 of Us, debuted the same year and had her star opposite of another ANOES alumni, the original and Dream Warriors star Heather "Nancy" Lagenkamp. I had a crush on both, and despite my still remaining hatred of sitcoms, this is one I had to watch! I don't remember anything about it, though, other than the girls were hotties.
Theiss returned to horror and the Freddy franchise by appearing in the superlative 2010 documentary Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy, where she talked about her role as Deb in part 4. And, she looked gorgeous!!!! She does horror conventions looking more beautiful than ever (the first pic all the way at the top of this article is a recent pic that I found online), though, sadly, I have yet to meet her, as she hasn't done one that I frequent. Brooke, please, do Chiller or Monstermania, please!
Blonde, tall, and blue-eyed, Brooke Thesis may not have done a lot of horror flicks, but her inclusion in the Nightmare franchise is one of the most memorable in the series and one of my biggest crushes growing up. So it is with great pleasure that I officially add Brooke Thesis to this site's Horror Crushes!
20. Fangoria #96 (Darkman)- Sam Raimi's kick ass mix of superhero action and Gothic horror makes for an exciting cover that really pops and shows the excellently gruesome visage of it's title character. I don't know if he is horror's first superhero (like the cover states), that title really belongs to Swamp Thing. The first one originally made for the big screen, is more like it.
19. Fangpria #127 (Return of the Living Dead Pt. III)- One of the sexiest, if not THE sexiest zombies ever, graces the cover of this Fango. Dear God, how I LOVE Melina Clarke!! Still, to this very day!!!
18. Fangoria #9 (Motel Hell)- The most highly sought after, rarest, and issue that is worth the most amount of money, this cover of a dude with a pig head and chainsaw from cult favorite Motel Hell is a purely classic image!
17. Fangoria #78 (Hellbound: Hellraiser II)- Pinhead gets his first and best Fango cover. Some trivia here, the first film made it on to a Fango cover, as well, but it wasn't Pinhead. It was bloody and skinless Frank!
16. Fangoria #50 (A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge)- Landmark issue gets a bit a of a different look with the filmstrip taken out for it. Also, Freddy looks fucking cool as hell on it and totally pissed off! I guess of it's your "revenge" you be pissed off, too!
15. Fangoria #70 (Pumpkinhead)- The movie's production company had been holding back on pictures of the title monster and finally they released them leading to one of the best cover's in the mag's history! The monster is one of the coolest ever and the film is kick ass, too!
14. Fangoria #325- (Female Vampire)- Sexy vampire cover, from cult classic Female Vampire, in this awesome tribute to Euro-sleaze/ exploitation/ horror master Jess Franco. This actually ranks as one of my favorite issues of the magazine.
13. Fangoria #66 (The Lost Boys)- A badass cover as one of the vampires of 80s favorite The Lost Boys throws up the devil horns. Dude keeps it metal, even after landing in a tub of holy water!
12. Fangoria #62 (A Nightmare on Elm Street pt. 3: The Dream Warriors)- My absolute favorite slasher sequel gets a cool as hell cover appearance as Freddy Krueger looks ready to take the lovely Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp) to the prom! Bad boys get all the best girls! Though considering the look on her, maybe she isn't that pumped for this date.
11. Fangoria #65- (Predator)- Man, it just seems like Fango was knocking them out the ballpark with the covers, during this time period. Then again this was a stellar time for horror. Anyways, the deadly alien from the Arnie action/ sci-fi/ horror classic get the cover here holding a trophy of one of successful hunts.
