NYCC 2018: Sat, Part 1: Cosplay and More!

Due to reasons that I won't get into here, I was only able to attend Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6&7, as opposed to all four days, of New York Comic Con (NYCC). That being said, I had a blast. And, I did not hesitate in bringing you kind of coverage that you are use to seeing here at WORDS FROM THE MASTER. Let's begin with my first part of highlights from Sat.
This lovely, young lady did an awesome Charlotte Flair cosplay. I have never seen anyone do her, and now it will be hard to beat just how good she did her! It's a beautiful robe, and the cosplayer, herself, really knew how to bring Ms. Flair to life. And, she is even more beautiful the lovely lady she is cosplaying as!

This year, I didn't notice a single cosplay that was overdone, as in past years with characters like Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman, or Deadpool. Those characters were there, but at normal amounts. However, a couple of ladies did Bowsette, a sexy, female take on Super Mario Brothers villain Bowser. But, even this was not overdone. The above lovely lady was one of my favorites takes on this cosplay.

Halloween is coming up and this site loves and lives for horror, so here are some awesome horror cosplays for you!

Speaking of horror, I attended the Anna and the Apocalypse panel. It was fucking awesome! You can read more about that here: https://www.themastergio.com/2018/10/anna-and-apocalypse-panel-at-nycc-2018.html
Below, you'll see an exclusive pic of the panel, that you won't find on that link:

Some more of my favorite cosplays, of the day:

This dude was born to cosplay as He-Man!
That's my friend Kiara in the middle in her "Dragonball" inspired cosplay, with two "Mortal Kombat" Subzero and Scorpion and their friendship!

On Saturday I cosplayed as Logan, once again, but thanks to my aunt, who did my make-up, I added some blood and cuts to him.
Here I am with the Marvel pets at the "Marvel Puzzle Quest" booth!
With badass and beautiful cosplayer Scarlet SpyderQueen.

To be continued...

Super7 At Toy Fair 2017

Super7 had what might be the most eye catching and ''holy crap! That rules!'' booth at Toy Fair 2017.

This was especially true if you, like me, are a HUGE Masters of the Universe fan. They have added new figures in the vintage style, as above. And, they will be giving us new ones in the Classics, fully articulated and detailed style, as well! Some of the above figures are already out, but most of this the MOTU figures are coming soon!

They are also doing the above ''Star Wars'' style MOTU figures!

Fellow horror fans should take head at the kick ass Alien, Hellboy (comic books, inspired) and Toxic Avenger toys that they will be releasing!

If you have ever fantasized about a Toxic Avenger, Hellboy, and Star Wars crossover (and, who here hasn't?!), you will soon be able to do just that with your action figures!

Super7 is shaping up to being one of my favorite toy lines!!

DC Universe Vs. Masters of the Universe #1

Script: Keith Griffin
Art: Dexter Soy
Covers: Ed Benes and Randy Mayor
Editor: Michael McCallister
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $2.99 (US)

Over on Earth, a beautiful woman is chased by demonic rats. She seeks help from the mystics of the DC Universe, Justice League Dark. Meanwhile, on Eternia, He-Man and three of the Masters of the Universe, Teela, Stratos, and Man-At-Arms, battle the Horde Troopers of Hordak's Evil Horde, who have taken over the planet. They find a captured Evil-Lyn who tell them that Skeletor has fled to Earth.

That's the basic plot of DC's highly awaited crossover event. Back in the early 80s DC did a MOTU and DCU crossover, but with the company recently publishing the franchise's books, it was only a matter of time before this occurred. This first issue is fun and has a nice pace and flow. The art by Soy looks good, and the covers by Benes and Mayor are beautiful.

I quite enjoy the story and plot, but there are issues I have with it. I don't like that everyone seems to know that Prince Adam and He-Man are on in the same. And, I dislike the changes to He-Man and Skeletor's costumes. But, hey DC has been shitting on their own characters with new looks, so this really isn't too shocking. It's really fucking shitty. Just do a Google search for Lobo's new look and tell me you don't wanna punch someone out for making him look like! But, the changes are offensive enough to turn off a die hard MOTU fan, like myself.

This issue has got my interest, and I will keep reading the mini-series. Considering I don't read comics much nowadays (the last thing I fully read was Thunderbolts #1 (the one with the current roster) and Avengers Vs. X-Men, the first couple of issues), that is saying a lot.

*** out of ****

By the way, this is the first time I ever reviewed a comic-book here. I think I will keep it up. Hope you enjoyed this!
