NYCC 2017: The Best of Friday's Cosplays Pt. 2

And, now for the last half of the best cosplays on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017:
Two badass and beautiful cosplayers doing excellent cosplays of Cami and Chun-Li.
Quite possibly the best couple that I saw on Friday, if not all four days. I mean come on, they're doing two of my all time favorite characters from Masters of the Universe in Skeletor and Evil-Lyn and doing them awesomely!
Not enough people do Selene from the "Underworld" franchise as cosplay. This beauty did it and excellently, might I add!
 Badass "Street Fighter" cosplay!!!

I am not bullshitting when I say that this next cosplay is one of the most amazing that I have ever seen! It is an AT-ST (AKA the Chicken Walker) from Return of the Jedi, and to a lesser degree The Empire Strikes Back. The Star Wars fanboy in me had a major geekgasm that only got bigger when the lovely Rey and her BB-8 ran into it and all posed together!

This dude has to be one of the most awesome Bizaro cosplays that I have ever seen!

The Gwenpool in the following two pics is my favorite cosplay that I saw of the character in all four days. The cosplayer, herself, is freaking gorgeous! The Spidey that posed with her in the first pic is pretty fucking awesome, too!

Two cosplayers looking great as Catwoman and Lara Croft (who was a fairly popular cosplay this year).
Oh my fucking God, this "Sin City" duo were too fucking awesome and badass!!!!
Not enough people do Agent 13 cosplays, which kinda sucks, cause she is an awesome character. I love that this lovely cosplayer did her so well!.
In my very humble opinion, the above gorgeous lady was the most awesome and badass Lara Croft cosplay that I saw all four days, if not ever.

Let me end the best of Friday's cosplays with two different takes on Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn.
These two are fighting over this lucky Yellow Lantern Scarecrow!
I LOVE the black, white, and red take on this infamous duo!

That is it for now. Next my adventures as Logan on this very same day!

NYCC 2017: The Best of Friday's Cosplays Pt. 1

Friday was, quite honestly, my favorite day at this year's New York Comic Con. Partly, because I debuted my Logan cosplay. But, that is for another post. In this one, I am going to highlight some of my favorite cosplays of this day.
My friend Rachel and her boyfriend
A truly fucking excellent cosplay of one of the coolest looking Hellboy characters!

This next cosplayer (below) sat with her Annabelle doll and moved her head along with it. It made for one of the creepiest and coolest cosplays, that I saw all four days! Truly amazing!

Wonder Woman was, not surprisingly, the most popular cosplay this year. Thanks, in large part, to the excellent movie. The lovely lady below was just one of my favorite cosplays that I saw of the iconic character, this year.
Pennywise was pretty popular, as well. But, the above may have the best of them all!
There were a ton of Ricks, from "Rick and Morty", but very few Morties, at this year's Comic Con. Thankfully, this duo corrected that. And, did it awesomely, might I add!

As I mentioned at the start of this article, I was cosplaying as Logan on this day. The Deadpool Nova (bottom pic, far right), said, "Logan is alive!" when he saw me! It made me laugh. Also, how fucking cool, is this Nova group cosplay?!
The Hound and his Hound Fried Chicken (HFC)! How fucking cool and hilarious is this?! Love it!
"Goddamn!" Noob-Noob is here!
Might be the best Randy "Macho Man" Savage, ever!
Holy shit! Han Solo is absolutely gorgeous! NOTE: that is a sentence I never thought I would type!
Parenting done right!

To be continued!

NYCC 2017: Thurs

This past week was the 2017 edition of New York Comic Con (NYCC). As always it was a hell of an event! In fact, it seemed even bigger than last year, but then every year does. Anyway, let us start at very beginning of this year's event with the coolest cosplays from Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017.

Early on in the day, I ran into beautiful cosplayer Kristen Lanae, who was signing at the In Your Dreams Collectibles (the same booth where I interviewed Aurora O'Brien last year). She was cosplaying as Freddy Krueger on this day. But, you'll see more of her, soon, as on Saturday, I conducted an interview with her. Stayed tuned for that! For now, here are two pics of her as the sexiest Freddy, that you are likely to ever see!

Over at the Midtown Comics booth, I found the lovely Joanna Mari, who was doing an awesome Wonder Woman cosplay!
Meanwhile, at the Rilakkuma booth, I got my pic taken with the adorable Rilakkuma! I must admit that I never heard of this cute Japanese character before. But, as I saw him, I knew that I had to get a pic with him!

And, now for the rest of the best cosplays from Thurs at NYCC!
 A sexy as hell X-23!
Cosplayer Mei Hoshi at the "One Piece Thousand Storm" booth.

And, below, in honor of the recent passing of the great Hugh Hefner, I present to you Hef Deadpool! I am gonna say this flat out: this is THE coolest Deadpool variation that I saw all four days!

It was not just all cosplay, though, as I attended some panels. One of them was on the recently released Cult of Chucky. It had writer/ director/ series creator Don Mancini, Jennifer Tilly, Fiona Dourif, her dad and voice of Chucky: Brad Dourif, Alex Vincent, and a special appearance by Child's Play 2's Christine Elise, who also appears in this new one! She is at the far right of the third pic, directly below.

Now, let us end this day's coverage with a pic of the best, and loveliest, Harley Quinn, that I saw that day and myself:

Coming up: more coverage from the rest of the three days!

Gerald's Game (review)

Title: Gerald's Game
Director: Mike Flanagan
Writers: Jeff Howard and Mike Flanagan, based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King
Cast: Carla Gugino, Bruce Greenwood, Henry Thomas, Carel Struyken, Kate Siegel, Chaira Aurelia
Min: 103
Year: 2017

Gerald (Bruce Greenwood) and his beautiful wife, Jessie (Carla Gugino), try to save their flattering marriage by spending time at a remote vacation home. He handcuffs her to the bed, and begins a sex with her. It quickly segues into a rape fantasy. She is, understandably, uncomfortable and turned off , by this. This leads them to having an argument. He, soon, suffers a heart-attack and dies. She kicks off of her, and he lays lifeless on the floor. Thing is now, she is cuffed to the bed, unable to break free.
Making matters worse, is a hungry, stray dog that has come in and lays on the floor, in the same bedroom. As her mind begins to fracture; haunting, deeply scarring, and horrific memories of her dad come to her. Which are further augmented by visions of a terrifying figure that comes and goes, in front of her.

Gerald's Game is a brilliant adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name. I read the book many years ago in high school, and it immediately became one of my favorite novels of all time. I long wondered if they would ever make into a film. I wanted to see it happen, but I often feared if it ever got made they would fuck it up. I am happy to say that co-writer/ director Mike Flanagan has more delivered the goods. In fact, this one of the finest King movies ever made!
The film, itself, takes a smart approach to adopting a book that is heavy on being inside a character's head, and while having little action is undeniably intense. The result ing movie is a faithful adaptation that is truly frightening and is filled with white knuckle intensity.

Flanagan keeps upping the intensity and makes it all truly terrifying, in what is the most intense King movie since Cujo. It also manages to be very unnerving and disturbing. The theme of rape and abuse is a terrifying and lies in the undercurrent and in full visibility. The horrors of child abuse, representated in what is perhaps the most disturbing and chilling aspect of the book, is bought to life in a truly haunting flashback.
There is some violence and gore but not a lot. Up and until, one moment that is. This scene was hard for even me, to watch, and I consider myself a very hardcore fan. It is perfectly setup and realistically and delivers the stomach churning goods. You will know what scene it is when you see it!

In a piece like this acting is extremely important. And, it delivers in spades. Bruce Greenwood is excellent as a husband whose creep and control factor bubbles to the surface. The supporting cast is also flawless. But, it is Carla Gugino who delivers on all cylinders. I have been a fan of hers forever. Many times, she had been in sexpot roles, but here she proves she more than just that. This is not just her best performance, that I recall, but one of the finest in modern horror, period.
Gerald's Game is a masterpiece. It is scary and incredibly and unmercifully intense. Smart and with one of the finest female characters in recent horror history,  she's portrayed by Gugino in way, that is deserving of much adulation, as well as awards. It is hard for me to tell you if it is better than the other great horror movie of the year (which also happens to be based on a King book), It. But, it may very well be. With movies like Oculus and Hush, Flanagan already made solid horror films. However, it is with Gerald's Game that he has truly joined the rack of the masters of horror. A Netflix exclusive, Gerald's Game just started streaming there this past weekend. Do not miss it, under any circumstance!
