The Official Horror Crush Database — Part 1: The Numbers Behind the Crushes (2011–2026)

Welcome to the first annual Official Horror Crush Database!

Since 2011, I have been paying homage to the beautiful and talented actresses who have contributed to the horror genre. Now, for the first time, I’ve gone back through the entire Horror Crush collection and compiled the numbers behind the crushes!

These results cover the 94 women who currently comprise the database, from the very first inductee, Jill Terashita, to the most recent addition, fellow Canadian beauty Laura Harris. This is an idea I’ve been playing with for years, but my recent seven-month hiatus and return to the site finally inspired me to go through with it.

Part One focuses on the more basic statistics and demographics of the database, giving us a look at the numbers behind these 94 actresses. Part Two will take things much further, diving into the fun, surprising, and sometimes downright wild facts and connections that came up during the research.

I think some of the numbers will surprise my fellow readers, while others will probably turn out exactly as you expected. Either way, there were definitely a few results that caught even me off guard!

So, sit back, enjoy, and let’s take a look at The Numbers Behind the Crushes!

Let's begin by looking at the countries of origin represented in the Horror Crush Database. While the top two countries were pretty much what I expected, some of the results further down the list were genuinely surprising to me. It was interesting to see just how much international representation has made its way into the database over the years.

🌎 Where Are They From? — The Countries Behind the Crushes

Country    Actresses    Percentage
🇺🇸 United States    67    71.3%
🇨🇦 Canada    8    8.5%
🇦🇺 Australia    4    4.3%
❓ Unknown    4    4.3%
🇩🇪 Germany    3    3.2%
🇧🇾 Belarus    1    1.1%
🇫🇷 France    1    1.1%
🇬🇷 Greece    1    1.1%
🇮🇹 Italy    1    1.1%
🇲🇽 Mexico    1    1.1%
🇵🇱 Poland    1    1.1%
🇷🇺 Russia    1    1.1%
🇬🇧 United Kingdom    1    1.1%
TOTAL    94    100%

It comes as no surprise that the US of A takes the top spot, since the majority of movies, horror included, come from us. That makes this result a given, so, instead let's jump right to:

🥈 Canada officially takes silver!

8 Canadian Horror Crushes = 8.5% of the entire database.
I definitely expected our friends up North to take silver. After all, their involvement in the genre and the fact that it is home to some of the most beautiful women in the world, made me confident of these results.

The Canadian contingent is:

And Australia takes bronze with 4:
This one really surprised me. And, yes there is while there is no denying that Australia not only has some gorgeous women but also also many actresses hail from the Land Down Under. Still, I had never realized just how many of them were in the database!

❓ Unknown: 4

You can think of these results as the actress equivalent of when The Ultimate Warrior would come out to wrestle and be introduced as being “from parts unknown!” 😂 Except this is real life!

In all seriousness, I had no idea the database contained this many actresses whose countries of origin are unknown. Then again, when you consider that some of these women are obscure even within the horror community, it actually makes a lot of sense. Some of these actresses have very little biographical information available about them, making their origins surprisingly difficult to track down.

  • Courtney Taylor
  • Suzanna Ling
  • Elise Richards
  • Almanta Suska

  • Lorraine De Selle being our sole Italian representative is honestly one of the most surprising results to me. Considering my love of Italian horror—and especially the women who appeared in those films—I expected Italy to have a much stronger showing in the database. It turns out that Italian horror productions often featured actresses from other parts of Europe instead.

It will be interesting to see whether this statistic holds up in the years to come as the Horror Crush Database continues to grow. Perhaps Lorraine will eventually get some fellow Italian company!

And now, we get to the classic battle of Betty vs. Veronica (vs. Cheryl)! It's time for the blondes, brunettes, and redheads to go head-to-head and see which hair color dominates the Horror Crush Database!

    💇 Hair color

    🤎 Brunette — 53.2%
    💛 Blonde — 40.4%
    ❤️ Redhead — 3.2%
    🎨 Multiple/variable — 3.2%

    In other words:

🤎 Brunettes Win — This is honestly where the idea for this entire category was born, as I kept wondering which hair color was the dominant one in the database. It is fun to see brunettes come out on top. Yay for the Veronicas of the horror world!

💛 Blondes Take a Strong Second — They put up a good fight and came close, but ultimately our golden-haired beauties could not overcome the ladies with the darker locks.

❤️ Redheads Remain a Very Small Minority — We all love redheads, but unfortunately there just aren't that many of them in the genre. Just as natural redheads are rare in the real world, they are also a rarity in the cinematic world of horror.

🎨 Multiple/Variable Hair Colors — This small category covers actresses such as Jane Levy and others whose hair color has varied significantly throughout their careers, allowing the database to avoid forcing them into a single potentially misleading category.

And, now for another section that I have long wondered about, which is the era that not only dominates the database, but also where do the other eras compare to it:

📅 When Did They Rule Horror? — The Primary Eras of the Crushes

Primary horror era        Actresses        Percentage of 93
    🕰️ 1980s        37        39.4%
    📼 1990s        31        33.0%
    💿 2000s        28        29.8%
    📀 2010s        26        27.7%
    📼 1970s        11        11.7%
    💻 2020s        10        10.6%

And the big takeaway: the 1980s rule! Which is honestly exactly what I expected once I started working through and crunching the numbers. When you think about just how massive that decade was for the horror genre, it makes even more sense that the ’80s would come out on top.

It is also important to mention that these percentages intentionally exceed 100% collectively, because many actresses have legitimate horror credits across multiple decades. We are measuring database era representation, rather than assigning every actress to one—and only one—decade.

At the same time, an actress can have horror work spanning multiple decades, while her primary era represents the decade in which she had the largest or most significant concentration of horror work. Later credits can still contribute to her overall career totals without necessarily changing that primary-era designation.

In other words, determining an actress's primary era is essentially handled on a case-by-case basis, taking the full scope of her horror career into account.

And, now here is another fun bit of results as we look into what subgenre is the one that the most amount of Horror Crushes worked in:

🔪 What Kind of Horror Do They Love? — The Most Represented Subgenres

    👻 Supernatural — 58
    🔪 Slasher — 40
    👹 Creature — 27
    🤖 Sci-Fi — 24
    😂 Horror Comedy — 21
    🔥 Possession/Demonic — 19
    🧛 Vampire — 18
    👁️ Psychological — 12
    🧟 Zombie — 11
    🩸 Giallo — 3

This is one result that definitely surprised me. While I am a monster kid first and foremost—come on, I grew up watching Godzilla, Hammer, and Universal movies on television as a kid—I had a feeling there weren't quite as many creature features in the database compared to slashers, which I thought for sure would slice their way to the top.

Well... I was wrong. 😂 It turns out that the horrors of the supernatural world dominated the results, which was definitely not what I expected.

Equally interesting is another statistic that continues to baffle me: despite my love of Italian horror, there are only three giallo representatives in the entire database! That's pretty crazy in my book.

Well, that's for this part of the database numbers.

Be sure to stay tuned for Part Two, where we dive even deeper into the database for some truly fun, wild, unexpected, and quite literally WTF results! Trust me, this is where things are going to get really interesting. 😈

A Note on the Research: The statistics in this article were compiled from my Horror Crush Database and researched with the assistance of AI. It was used as a research and organizational tool to help analyze the data, cross-reference information, and crunch the numbers, while the final classifications, methodology, and decisions regarding the database remain my own.

    ABOUT MAESTRO CLAUDIO:

Maestro Claudio is an iconic adult film performer, producer and director with nearly 30 years of on-set experience under his belt.  Originally from Trieste, Italy, Claudio started his career as a freelance engineer after graduating with a degree in Mining Engineering at the University of Trieste in 1984.

After obtaining his private pilot license, Claudio decided to move to the US to continue his pilot training. In 1993, he moved to Los Angeles and obtained his commercial, multiengine and instrument pilot licenses. But aviation wasn’t his only interest in LA: from a young age, Claudio had long dreamed of pursuing a career in the porn industry.

In 1995, Claudio’s dream finally came true and he started working in the adult business as a performer; his impressive gifts quickly sparked a buzz among the top studios in town, as well as legendary directors such as Paul Thomas, Gregory Dark and Tom Zupko. He soon expanded his professional repertoire to include cameraman, photographer, director and producer. Flying eventually became just a hobby for him - now unfortunately abandoned because of his tight work schedule.

Claudio now owns and runs his award-winning studios PervCity.com and DPdiva.com and, in partnership with Mick Blue, BAMvisions.com. Among his many accolades, he has earned the XRCO Award for ‘Best Director - Web’ in 2018 and was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame in 2019.

Maestro Claudio still performs onscreen occasionally, but only independent content with female performers for his and their personal OnlyFans platforms.

4 Must See Scenes: Claire (Rodney Moore Hairy Girl Edition)

All pictures are from their respective owners.

Claire is one of my favorite hairy ladies to have worked in the adult biz. Known as Velma over on ATK Hairy, Claire was the name she used when shooting for Rodney Moore's Rodneievision. It's from there that I know her work best from, and where I became a huge fan from the moment I first saw her. The following are four really smoldering scenes she did for him. I give them my highest recommendation, though truth be told anything she is in is gonna be HOT as fucking hell. As always, I provide links to where you can legally see and/ or purchase these scenes.

    4. Claire and Rodney Moore- Found in Seattle Hairy Girls 71&72, this hot and fun scene has Claire going to Rodney's place to try out for a modeling gig. Rodney you see, is playing a photographer. Claire then changes into her hot and sexy lingerie outfit. Rodney realizes that she's hairy, and he's like, "You can't be a model you're hairy!" But, he soon finds himself turned on by her look. And,  well, who can blame him?!
Claire looks absolutely gorgeous here. From her sexy blue blouse to her red/ tiger print intimate wear with fishnet stockings (which look KILLER as they off her great legs!), her hotness is on full display. I like Rodney being turned on, by the way she looks. And, she plays up everything perfectly! The scene ends on an extra nasty note, which solidifies as it as one of her best!

    3. Claire (Solo)-
This scorcher from Seattle Hairy Girls 73&74, has our redheaded goddess in full dom mode. She talks to us (the camera), as if we are her slave. Asking us if we ever had a hairy mistress (to that, I say, if only!), and ordering us to lick her hairy parts (legs, armpits, etc). She then strips to her HOT and VERY revealing fishnet outfit. Then eventually, she gets nude to get herself off, as we do, too.

This scene is just so fucking sexy! Her ordering us to lick her hair and the camera focusing on them, as she talks is the stuff to make your screen melt. That she says that we are doing a good job only makes it hotter. She looks so beautiful and the vinyl and fishnet outfit is one of the sexiest outfits she has ever rocked. At the end of the scene, she gets angry at us for being done before she is and snaps her cat o'nine tails (which also used sexily during earlier parts of the scene) at the screen. This is the perfect nuclear level finale to this one!

    2. Claire and Rodney Moore- Of her boy/girl scenes, this one from Seattle Hairy Girls 79&80 is my favorite and second favorite overall of hers (that I've seen). In it, she plays a cam-girl who has hired Rodney to shoot her content, since she wants the scenes to look better than what she had been doing on her own. Rodney complies, and she switches into her HOT as fucking hell bikini. As he starts shooting, she talks to the camera and strips, as if she being shot for her own content. This is hot as fuck, already, and it only gets better from here on in!

Rodney, in the meantime, is so turned on, that he is, err, enjoying himself. This pisses off Claire, who finds this highly unprofessional. He asks her to help him get off, which eventually leads to them having sex, of course! The finale is smoldering, very nasty, and ends it all on a super high note.
It all sums up to one a scene I love to revisit, though, I honestly, finish pretty early on. Even though I gotta say that is a scorcher from start to finish!!

    1. Claire (Solo)- And, now for my favorite scene of Claire's, and the one I have watched the most times. This one ranks among my favorite scenes ever (honestly the scene that got ranked at #2 definitely ranks high in that manner, as well). Said scene is a solo one and can be found in Seattle Hairy Girls 69&70. Our goddess looks delectably cute, as she is on a bed. She asks us if we have ever been with a hairy girl, and tells us that she is very hairy.

She focuses on her HOT, hairy parts, which is so fucking sexy!! She is AWESOME at dirty and sexy talk, really knowing what to say and how to say it. Plus, the tank-top and shorts look so good on her! She then strips first to her blue bra and then. of course, fully nude, as she touches herself.
Claire looks gorgeous throughout this and is volcanic in her level of sexy and hotness. I am pretty sure that this was the first scene I ever saw of hers. I became a fan in a split second. Her way of playing up to the camera, her all-natural body, and body hair are heavenly. Combine that with her legitimately beautiful face, those impossibly gorgeous, light, blue eyes, and her being a legit redhead was enough to seal the deal for me.
I had to see and own more of her work, especially with Rodney! Seriously, he's the man and no one makes better smut than him! Anyway, my point is this scene is FIRE, and Claire is one of my favorite babes. As a matter of fact, she might be in my top five favorite redheads of all time. Why? Cause, she fucking ruled!

Whether she called herself Claire for Rodney or Velma on ATK, one thing is for sure, she always gave the hottest performances. Like most girls who leave the biz, no one knows what became of her. I just hope she is doing well and is happy. And, we thank her for hotness. Are you a fan of Claire/ Velma? Let me know in the comments section below if you are!

    Horror Crush: Patricia Pearcy

Happy New Years everyone! I hope you all had a fun time last night. So, maybe your healing a hangover or just chillaxing. No matter what you're doing, I feel that this is the way to start the New Year, here at Words from the Master: with a new induction into Horror Crushes! This time around we have southern stunner: Patricia Pearcy.

Patricia Pearcy was born on September 10, 1946 in Bell, Texas. She began acting in 1973 on an episode of One Life to Live. But, it wasn't until three years later that she appeared in her most iconic movie and the one that won her my heart (and many of those reading this) and, in turn, got her this induction.

That movie is, of course, Jeff Lieberman's cult classic Squirm. One of the best animal attack movies, this one tells the tale of an electrical storm that hits the southern town of Fly Creek, Georgia. This ends up making the worms come out of the ground and become flesh-hungry killers! Of course, the town doesn't know this yet. And, in the meantime, New York City dude, Mick (Don Scardino), goes over there to visit his southern belle girlfriend, Geri (Pearcy). It doesn't take very long, though, for bad shit to styart to happen as the worms begin killing people. And, to make things worse, Roger (R.A. Dow) who has an uncomfortable thing for Geri, gets attacked by the worms and becomes the hideous, dangerously unstable, and monstrous Worm Face.

Squirm (1976) is a film that I have loved ever since I was a little kid. It used to play on TV here in NYC, all the time. And, I must've caught it a bunch of times back then. Despite its rather silly premise, it really holds up quite well today. This due to good acting and some genuinely stomach churning scenes that will, well, make you squirm in your seat! It also features some, mostly, good FX, with make-up being handled by the legendary Rick Baker. Lieberman does some great directing, especially in the intense climax which also features some great and creepy use of shadows.

Pearcy is really good and super likable in the lead role of Geri. You really care what happens to her, her family, and Mick, making the tension that more strong in the flick. Honestly to me, she is the ultimate southern belle. Gorgeous, sweet, and with a natural, almost innocent sexiness about her, she is the kind of girl anyone would like to meet and date on a visit to the South. Plus, she is a natural redhead and who in the hell doesn't love redheads?

She also gives a bit of toplessness in a shower scene. I didn't about this until years later, when I bought the old MGM DVD, as, like I said before, this was a TV staple. It was a pleasant, albeit, quick surprise. NOTE: though originally R-rated, the movie was reedited into a PG to get even more of audience, making the film an even bigger hit than it already was. The DVD, and subsequent Scream Factory Blu-Ray (which is sadly OOP, I never got to buy, and now goes for a shit load of cash online) all have the boobies R-cut.

Pearcy appeared in one more horror flick: Delusion, AKA The House Where Death Lives, (1981). In it, she play a nurse named Meredith Stone who begins to care for a wealthy, old dude. Soon people begin to get offed. I never seen this one, and I'm not sure I ever heard about it before. Anyway, the cover does look cool. Any of you ever seen it? How is Pearcy in it? Let me know in the comments section below.

And, that's about it as far as horror and Pearcy goes. I've had a crush on her ever since I was a little kid and saw Squirm. It's a legendary and fondly remembered movie, by those who, like me, grew up on it. And, so with her solid acting talent, onscreen presence, and natural beauty, it is only right that she is now an official Horror Crush!

Are a fan of Patricia Pearcy? What's your favorite role of hers? Let me know in the comments section below.

    Horror Crush: Penelope Ann Miller

It's time for another induction into Horror Crushes! This time we are adding a beauty who has been one of my favorite lovely ladies since at least my early teen years, the absolutely gorgeous and immensely talented Penelope Ann Miller!

Penelope Ann Miller was born Penelope Andrea Miller on January 13, 1964 in Los Angeles, California. She is the eldest of three daughters. Miller is probably best known by mainstream fans for movies like Kindergarten Cop (probably the movie where I first really crushed on her) and Brian De Palma's Carlito's Way. But, as always, we will be focusing on her genre work.

She actually began her acting career in the genre, as her first acting role was in a 1985 episode of Tales from the Darkside, named "Ring Around the Redhead". She plays the titular redhead. Now, I am sure I saw this episode, as I am sure I've watched every episode of this classic show. And, I am pretty sure that I crushed on her in this episode. After all, she was a redhead in it, and I always loved redheads! Plus, I crushed on a girls all the time, on this show, as a kid. That being said, I don't remember this one at all. Any thoughts on this episode? Let me know in the comments section below!

Her first horror film came in 1997 with the excellent The Relic. This kick ass monster movie has amazing practical FX by Stan Winston. The CGI is a little more uneven, but the movie remains a frightening and suspenseful creature feature. Based on the best selling book by the same name by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, it is directed expertly by Peter (Outland, End of Days, Universal Solider: Regeneration) Hyams.

In it, an ancient monster begins to slaughter people in a museum. Miller plays an evolutionary biologist, Margo Green, who tries to figure out what is doing the killing. Also investigating the murders is a toigh but superstitious cop, Lieutenant Vincent D'Agosta,  played wonderfully by Tom Sizemore. Miller is awesome as the smart and resourceful Margo. Also, she looks drop-dead gorgeous, especially when she gets all made-up for the gala opening of the museum's new superstition display.

I have loved The Relic since I first saw it in the theatres. And, while I had not seen it since the days of when I owned it on laserdisc, I can say that it still fucking rocks! The Relic is truly one of the best horror movies of the 90s and honestly needs to get talked about a lot more be genre devotes and experts.

A decade later, in 2007, came her return to horror with The Messengers. Despite, being a long time fan of hers, I had forgotten that she was in this. Mostly, cause it was such an awful and generic PG-13 ghost flick from the Pang (The Eye) Brothers. It didn't really offer anything worthwhile to stick in my mind. I mean, fuck the only thing that I recall is, (well other than the fact that it fucking sucks) Kristen Stewart played her daughter. Definitely a waste of Miller's talent. But, hey she looks gorgeous in it, of course!

The closest she came to returning to horror was Riverdale in 2018, but I don't recall that episode, to be honest. Regardless, Miller is a great actress, who I am always am happy to see in a project. Her appearance in the awesome The Relic is alone worthy of praise and love within the genre. And, with that I am honored to add this still absolutely ravishing actress to this site's Horror Crushes!
