The First Ever Brooklyn Horror Con 2021!

On October 23 & 24, 2021, the first ever edition of the annual Brooklyn Horror Con was held at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. This marks the first horror convention held in New York City, since the by gone days of the old Fangoria Horror Weekend of Horrors (who here remembers those? Let me know in the comments section below!). Like all NYC events they checked for vaccination cards, which is great in my book!

As I was not going be at any of the other East Coast horror cons held this year, so I was really looking forward to this event. For someone, like me, coming from shows like Chiller and MonsterMania,  though, this con really came off as small. But, it turned out to be awesome to meet celebs!

The first one I went up to was the lovely Samantha Scaffidi from Terrifier, one of the finest slashers of the last couple of years. She was a sweetheart to talk to, as we discussed where the movie was shot, the most brutal kill, and other aspects of this kick ass gorefest. She was so friendly and down to earth and absolutely awesome to meet!

Up next was Beatrice Boepple who played Freddy Kreuger's mom, Amanda Krueger, in A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child. She was so nice and awesome in person! Super friendly and sweet, we took some awesome pics, as she posed with a Freddy glove.

The last person I met was the fucking beyond awesome and kick ass Dana DeLorenzo who starred in one of my favorite shows of all time: Ash Vs. Evil Dead! She had the most continuously active line at the con. DeLorenzo really loves talking to her fans and shows that she genuinely cares about them. Aside from being even more beautiful in person, she is fun and ball of energy. Honest to God, she ranks among the best celeb meeting experiences, I have ever had at a con, top five possibly. I was the last to meet her at that moment, as she was gonna take a bathroom break right after me. But, I didn't mind the wait at all, as I loved seeing the way she treated all her fans, especially the special needs guy that was two fans ahead of me.

When, she finally got to me, she was so sweet that I was further blown away. We talked about my love for the franchise and how Evil Dead 2 made me want to get into film due to its camerawork. She was surprised to hear that at 13 I was already thinking about the way something was shot. She told me that if I wanted to get back into film, that I should. Honestly, it touched me so much that she would say that or even care. And, she gave me a free autographed poster, on top of the autograph I had bought off of her (scroll to the bottom to see all the autographs that I got at this con). We got two pics together, one normal and one where she is strangling, both fucking kick ass!. Guys, if you ever get a chance to meet her, do not fucking hesitate, not for motherfucking second!

As far as dealers go, this con was really tiny. It kind of felt like a flea market meets a very mini-Comic Con's artist alley with an emphasis on horror. Sadly, there were no dealers really selling horror flicks or a huge T-shirt selection. I'm sure it was due to it being new and being held the same day as MonsterMania in Philly and Spooky World in Florida. So, all I really ended up getting, cause it's really one of the few things that caught my eye, was this super cool Undertaker figurine sold and made by Ruined Creations

There was were some cosplayers around, representing their love for the genre. Including a lady who bought her super adorable doggy, a Pomeranian. Both of them were cosplaying as Freddy together! That little doggy was one of THE main highlight, for me, outside of the celebs. Anyway, you can see them here, along with a few others.

Finally, here are all the autographs that I got:

I hope to be back to this convention next year, but hopefully it won't be booked on the same day as other major horror cons, especially none in the northern East Coast. And, hopefully they get more dealers next time. But, for meeting awesome horror celebs and having a nice little time, this con definitely delivered the goods! Did any of you guys attend this con? What were your thoughts if you did? Who did you meet? Will you return next year? Let me know in the comments section below.

NECA Brings the Horror Figures to Toy Fair 2018

NECA continues to put out awesome toys, many of them horror related. Here then are their upcoming toys that were shown off at this year's Toy Fair in New York City that fellow horror fans will be dying to own.
Let's begin with Predator, in particular the upcoming Aliens Vs. Predator line that is based on the video game, hence the cool and fun colors that you will be seeing below!
There will also be more Kenner inspired Aliens, as seen below:

Stephen King and Pennywise fans take heed of the awesome It figures coming out, based on both versions! The accessories on these are cool as freaking hell!

The Gremlin above isn't licensed yet, but goddamn is cool! I hope he gets made!

Evil Dead fans have much to rejoice, as there are toys coming from both Ash Vs. Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn!
This new Ashy Slashy has some teeth, sharp ones, at that!
Those of you who follow my site, might say hey wasn't the above set from "Evil Dead 2" suppose to come out already? Well, they got pushed back for some redefining. But, I know that they will be worth our wait!

Friday the 13th fans are also getting some cool ass toys! Check these out!

Guillermo Del Toro is without question one of the genre's greatest directors. As such it is great to see his classics inspire the following stunning toys:

The final batch of horror toys that I am showing you guys are:
We are getting an official "The Fog" figure from John Carpenter's classic. He is so fucking awesome!
Plus, two new Freddy figures! One from "Dream Warriors" (left) and one from "The Dream Child" (right). both with our favorite one line delivering dream demon looking quite spiffy!

But, they toy I am most pumped for is this Herbert West from Re-Animator! Being that that is my all time favorite movie, you cannot begin to understand the joy that it gives me! It even comes with a Dr. Hill head and Rufus the cat!! I need this NOW in my life!

Horror Toys from NECA at Toy Fair 2017

As a horror fan and toy collector, I fucking love NECA. Going to their booth at Toy Fair is always a highlight. It was no different this year. Here are some of my favorite new and upcoming horror toys from them, that I saw at the event.

As you can see from the top picture, we are still getting lots of Predator toys. And, they look great, needless to say! With the 30 Anniversary of the first movie this year, there is no better time to get more Predator toys!!
Holy shit!! That stealth Predator rules!!

Arnold Schwarzengger fans rejoice! We are getting some cool Dutch figures!!

Of course, we are also getting some new Alien toys, too! It's only fair, right?!

Batman Vs. Joker Predator! Yes, this is a REAL, upcoming thing!!!

I have to be honest with you guys. I genuinely love Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III. I think it is a much better movie than Part 2, which I know most seem to prefer. It's much closer in tone to the first film and just fucking awesome. Anyways, I NEVER thought we would see a toy of THAT version of Leatherface (which might be the best looking one, or at least second best looking one). Low and behold NECA are giving us a 6 inch version! I NEED this in my life!

They a made a fucking Ashy Slashy puppet!! That is THE best thing EVER!!!!
Cause one can never have enough Godzilla toys. Actually, I am sad to say that I have none of NECA's Big G figure. Why? I don't, but I need to rectify that!

Which of these NECA toys did you like? Let me know in the comments below!

Toy Fair 2016: NECA

NECA is always in my top three or two booths that I like to hit up at Toy Fair. This past Feb. 2016, things were no different. As always they had some cool ass toys. Let's begin with these replicas which are big, expensive as fuck, and truly awesome!

The above are based on the amazing Starz series Ash Vs. Evil Dead. The demon alone would be cool to add to my collection!
I really, really like the Leatherface from Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2!
 Wyld Stallions rule!!!

This is definitely one of the most badass Terminator figures I have ever seen! Tech Noir Terminator (right) is a must have! NECA definitely have some great Terminator toys (based on the first two movies) coming or already out.

Of course, their Alien and Predator lines are continuing. As in the past, they draw inspiration from all the movies and the old Kenner line. Why I don't have more of these, I will never know. But, if you are looking for a way to thank me for this site, well, you know what to do! In all seriousness, these are amazing. Some, like the red Alien Queen (left) are out already, but others are coming soon.

I am not an Alien 3 fan, at all, but goddamn these figures (above) are sweet as hell!

Ah, Contra, one of my favorite, if not in fact, my actual favorite NES game. It's getting it's own figures, and they kick all kinds of ass! They also bring back memories of a game I beat (with the cheat code, but so what?!)!

The bat gremlin from Gremlins 2: The New Batch!! This just rules!!

Finally, I LOVE these plush dolls from Kidrobot. I am a sucker for horror shit being made cute as hell!
The Alien dolls are too much awesome cuteness! I actually own an exclusive LootCrate variant of the Facehugger (not shown above).
As if Gizmo wasn't already cute enough!
 You're terminated, with cuteness, fucker!
