Unborn Suffer are one of the heaviest and most brutal bands out there. And, on their sixth full length release, Commit(Ment T) Suicide there is not a single hint of them slowing their shit down. In fact, this is one of the most savage releases of 2020, a true fucking face ripper.

Their death/ grind sound is on full display in this album. It packs a walloping 27 songs in a mere 36 minutes! The music is intense and head crushing, as their playing combines with a battery of blast-beats and low end growls, screaming, and pig squeals. Songs range in length between 8 seconds and 2.16 minutes. Meanwhile, the production is dirty and helps to make the music sound as chaotic and unrelenting as possible,

"Cardboard Box" is blast-beat filled attack with pig squeals and enough viciousness to leave you battered and bloodied. "Solutions" opens up with a sample saying that there is "too many people on this Earth. We need a new plague", which is strangely chilling in our current world. The song, itself, has this really cool groove and striking drum sound that makes it both catchy and uncompromisingly ferocious, at the same time. The unbelievably barbaric "Point Zero" is a nasty and violently angry track that is probably my favorite. It's hammering blast-beats, slicing guitar riff, razor fast speed, and merciless breakdown leaves everything in its path in complete and utter destruction.

Unborn Suffer's Commit(Ment To) Suicide is committed to true brutality. It is one of the heaviest and most unstoppable releases of the year. Fans who love grindcore and their extreme metal as extreme as fucking possible take heed to this one!

Uncompromisingly heavy slam/ brutal death metal act Devourment are back after six years with a savage new album, Obscene Majesty. And, as such, these pioneers of the aforementioned sub-genre have a beast of a release.

The album is a violent and head pummeling exercise in extremity. It ranks as one of the most outright heavy releases you are likely to hear this year. The production by D. Braxton Henry give the album an all encompassing feeling of crushing brutality. With drumming that caves heads in, guitars that shred and slice, and deep, guttural vocals signing about all the gore and violence that you demand, the viciousness will destroy you and everything around you.

 The album opens up with "A Virulent Strain of Retaliation". It's a track that after its nightmarish intro explodes into battering blast-beats and chainsaw like guitars. It will beat you into bloody submission by the time it's chugging mid-section comes in. Speaking of chainsaw guitars you can imagine flesh being sliced and diced by one while "Narcissistic Paraphernalia" kicks in. It's breakdown is sure to break bodies in the pit. Blast-beats galore highlight the brutal "Arterial Spray Patterns". You can almost imagine a meat cleaver chopping up a person as the drums bash and batter the sound barrier. It's possibly my favorite track on the album. You haven't lived in brutality until you hear the blast-beat and slam filled "Dysmorphic Autophagia". "Sculpted in Tyranny" has this almost mechanical chugging breakdown that feels akin to the Terminator contentiously punching someone's head in, again and a-fucking-gain!

Filled to the brim with slamming breakdowns, blast-beats, and saw like guitars Obscene Majesty is one of the heaviest releases of the year. There are no breaks to be had in this album, nor should there be. Thick and obsessively violent sounding the music goes well with its gore loving mentality. Like a stampeding brontosaurus stomping multiple people's heads into oblivion, this a true slam metal monster!

Skinless- Savagery (Album Review)

Savagery maybe the most appropriately titled album of 2018. This pissed off and brutal sixth studio offering from brutal death metal crushers Skinless also happens to be one of the heaviest albums of this year.

The album grooves with anger and is an utterly merciless attack on the senses, as well as being uncompromising in its technically savvy and crushing sound. The killer and pounding sound mixes with shredding and speed that will beat you to bloody submission. They are accompanied by inhuman growling that achieves a brutality level that perfectly represents one of the most extreme sub-genres of metal.

The album opens up with its vicious title track, a decimating and pulverizing effort that beats the listener to the ground and leaves them a broken and in shattered pieces. "Skull Session" opens with a nightmarish like intro that heads into a groove filled pounding that pummels the listener like a jackhammer to, appropriately enough, one's skull. Speaking of pummeling, the anger filled, locomotive like "Exacting Revenge" goes between a super heavy groove and blast beats that seem destined to rip a head right off a body. "Line of Dissent" crunches with one of the most brutal grooves you are likely to hear, a slow and driving sound that builds into a bloody beatdown of death metal. Meanwhile, the bonus track, "High Rate Extinction" aims to set the mosh pit on fucking fire with its' merciless onslaught of crushing sound.

 

Savagery takes no prisoners and does not fuck around. Those in search of the most brutal and heavy music must take heed. But, what is most impressive is that despite its uncompromising sound it really knows how to you hook you into its' sound (well as long as you are into extreme metal). The groove makes you wanna trash everything in site and mosh straight to the bloody pits of hell. Topped off with a cool as fuck cover by tattoo artist Jesse Levitt; this is the brutal death metal release of 2018, so far, and will be hard to top by others in the sub-genre.

The Russian death metal monster known as Aborted Fetus is a brutal and gore drenched delight. Their upcoming release The Art of Violent Torture is filled with pummeling and crunching brutality that is backed by unrelenting bursts of blast beats by drummer Hammer and undecipherable guttural vocals by frontman Alexander "Meatgrinder" Andreev.What he have here is pure and unquestionably brutality.

The aural assault from the album is fast and pulverizing with moments of crunching that slows it down. What is consist is the interest in brutalizing the listener with a consistent sonic barrage and the utter heaviness of it all.

The album opens with the instrumental ''The Art of Pain'', which serves as the perfect set-up for the savage and pounding ''Boiled Alive''. The sound of ''Blinded by the Flame'' feels like lightning fast cuts made by a blade as it eviscerates flesh and destroys its victim. ''Axe Decapitation'' has face smashing veracity. Perhaps my favorite track on the album is ''Buried Alive''. It has this beautiful and haunting intro that returns every so often and plays in marvelous counterpart to the unrelenting music. Speaking of which, there are moments of peaceful and almost beautiful sounds in instrumentals like "Awaiting" which serve as a calm break between it all. Only to then, have the next track punch you multiple time right in your fucking face.

There is a shit load of talent and unquestionable brutality in Aborted Fetus. As such, The Art of Violent Torture, with its gore obsessed lyrics and low growling vocals, is a great choice for Cannibal Corpse fans who love complete and utter brutality. Not for the weak-hearted, this one puts the extreme in extreme metal.
