Horror Crush: Elisha Cuthbert

In continuing my promise of giving you more horror crushes for Women in Horror Month, I give you one of the most beautiful and, I think, underrated women to ever grace our genre: the gorgeous Elisha Cuthbert!

Elisha was born on Nov. 30, 1982 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada (goddamn, Canadian girls are fine!). She began her career at age nine doing children's clothing modeling, as well as foot modeling. She made her TV debut on kid's horror series Are You Afraid of the Dark, as a series regular. I was already too old for this show, so I really never watched it. However, it is cool that she started out in the genre.

She wouldn't return to horror till five years later in 2005 with the awesome and ass kicking remake House of Wax. I really don't like calling it a remake, though cause it really is quite different from the classic Vincent Price movie of the same name (itself a remake of Mystery of the Wax Museum). Where as the Price film was classic gothic terror, this version is an updated slasher take on it. It has a rough edge and a decided mean spiritedness which gives it a nice breath of fresh air.

The acting is good. I know some think of Paris Hilton being in this and are turned off by even the idea of her. But, she dies horribly and brutally. And, quite frankly she is fine for what her character is. Cuthbert really shines, though, as Carly Jones, the female lead in the film. She makes for a tough, sexy, smart, and likable final girl. In fact, she is without a shadow of a doubt one of the best final girls of the 2000s, at least. Also, I gotta add, that being a brunette (dirty blonde?) looks hot as fucking hell on her! Anyway, the solid villains, awesome gore, and thrilling climax, all amount to a movie that deserves far, far more love than it sometimes gets.

 

She would appear in one more horror movie two years later. That film is the controversial (at the time) torture porn flick, Captivity. In it, she plays a model who is held, well captive, by an unseen sicko who watches and tortures her. The movie is pretty violent and, for a studio horror movie, pretty nasty and rough. I recall some where uncomfortable with it when I saw it in the movies. This is another underrated film. Cuthbert, again, is excellent in her role. She starts off vulnerable but as the movie progresses she gains strength. The ending is really fucking cool, insuring this left a good taste in my mouth. If you have never seen it, I give it a strong recommendation, as I do the above mentioned House (which I do give the edge to).

 

 

Since, then no horror movies with her in it! Come on, Ms. Cuthbert the genre misses you! Come back and do another horror flick! Please!

AVN Expo 2016: Thurs, Part 1

The first day of the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) that we were present for was on Thurs, Jan. 21, 2016. We got down to business from the get go. There were tons of beautiful porn stars on hand, so let's not waste anymore time and get to the babes!

One of the very first things we noticed was the awesome way that Wicked Pictures had set up the elevator. This was on the floor of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino were the expo was being held at. They feature each of their contract stars. The door on the left is an example of what I mean. It features the beautiful Stormy Daniels.






The first booth we visited was Brazzers. After we caught up and photographed Romi Rain (we had, after all, interviewed her earlier that day), we got to snap some pics of the other lovely and busty beauties who were meeting their fans, signing autographs, and posing for pics. In the picture to the right you can see the girls that were there when we stopped by. They are, left to right: Nikki Benz, Romi Rain, Phoenix Marie, Nicole Aniston, and Peta Jensen.

Speaking of the beautiful Ms. Jensen, we got to snap a couple of extras pics of the stunning and sexy brunette. I been a big fan of hers since I first saw her at AEE last year, at the same booth. So, I was happy to see her again.

 

My God, Nicole Aniston is just so freaking beautiful!

While one could easily have spent the whole day at the Brazzers booth, we had more babes to see and more work to do, dammit! So on we went. 

At the Star XXX booth were we caught two Asian stunners in the form of Teanna Kai and Cindy Starfall.

She is without a shadow of a doubt one of the sexiest babes you'll ever see.

Earlier this month at the Adult Entertainment Expo, I got to interview one of the sexiest and most beautiful women currently working in the adult business: the gorgeous Romi Rain. Amon Amarth's Johan Hegg at St. Vitus in Brooklyn, NY

Last night, I, along my fellow esteemed members of the world of NY based heavy metal press, went to a special listening party. It was for the latest release from viking/ melodic death metal masters, Amon Amarth- Jomsviking. Held at heavy metal bar St. Vitus in Brooklyn, where signer Johan Hegg as present at the event. Later that night he was going to DJ for the fans. He was there with his wife and was very friendly, talkative, and personable.

Horns up! Here I am with Hegg, himself. Like I said above, he is a very cool and awesome dude in person.

 This lyric booklet was given to the press on hand. Hegg signed it for me!

 Metal Blade founder and all round legend Brian Slagel!!! I was honored to meet him.

That's Don Jamieson of That Metal Show in the awesome Amon Amarth hockey jersey. I do hope they find a new channel, cause that show needs to come back on and now! 

I gotta say that I really liked the new album. Jomsviking is clearly another solid entry in Amon Amarth's tremendous discography. I also should mention that the tenth track "A Dream that Cannot be" has guest vocals from metal legend Doro Pesch! I can't wait to get it myself and give it a good listen. The album is officially released on March 25, of this year.

Horror Crush: Natassja Kinski

With Feb being Women in Horror Month, I figured I would try and give you some horror articles that are related to ladies who have worked/ are working in our beloved genre. I hope to give you as many as I can, on this subject, but note that I need to work on my Adult Entertainment Expo/ AVN coverage as well.

Anyway, let's start things on the right path with one of the sexiest, most sensuous, and truly ravishing women to have ever appeared in horror, the gorgeous Natassaja Kinski. She was born Nastassja Aglaia Nakszynski in Berlin in 1961. Her father is German actor Klaus Kinski (who can be found in some horror movies of his own). She only appeared in two horror films, but both are definitely worth talking about, albeit for a few different reasons.

The first of them would be the last movie that the legendary Hammer Studios would make for many, many until their revival: To the Devil... A Daughter. As I discussed in the review in the link, this movie isn't that great, in fact it is highly flawed. But, it does have it's merits, however limited they maybe. Kinski was only 14 (or 15 or 16 depending on what your read) when she appeared in this movie, fully nude! Due to her age in that movie, you won't find the nude pics here. I will only say this Kinski was always gorgeous, you are more than welcomed to do any further research on your own.

 Just in case you wanted to see something not really sexy.

Nuns are only hot in horror and exploitation films. Trust me, I went to Catholic school.

Her next horror film is my personal favorite movie that she is in: Paul Schrader's 1982 remake Cat People. She plays the female lead in that one. Her brother, played by Malcolm McDowell, and her are the last of a race of people who turn into panthers upon having sex with others. They need to kill to revert back. They can only have incestuous sex, so that they won't go all feline and murderous. This rightfully grosses her out. Besides, she develops feelings for the zoo curator played by John Heard.

I've seen Cat People several times, and I think it only gets better with each viewing, as the relationships become more interesting. The acting is top notch, and Schrader's directing is stylish. The movie always looks beautiful. It's sexy and gory, too. Kinski is pure sex in the movie. She looks AMAZING and gets fully nude a couple of times in it. Add some great music, including a song by the late David Bowie, and you have a movie that has slowly and rightfully won some cult status. These days, I think it ranks among the best remakes ever and has become a personal favorite of mine.

 

It's too bad that she didn't appear in more horror movies. But, her roles, in particular Cat People, have left a last legacy as one of the hottest women to ever be in appear in a terror flick.
