ENTHEOS Unveil “Undone” — New Single/Video Ahead of Empty On The Inside Release + Record Release Show Announced

American alt‑metal act ENTHEOS have just released a new single and video for “Undone,” showcasing a bold shift in their sound. The track leans into a haunting, dark, and atmospheric style, weaving industrial textures into the band’s evolving sonic identity. It also highlights vocalist Chaney Crabb’s stunning clean vocal work, pushing the emotional weight of the song to the forefront.

“Undone” is the latest single from alternative metallers ENTHEOS. The track comes by way of the band’s impending new studio offering, Empty On The Inside, set for release on October 23rd via Metal Blade Records. Serving as the definitive centerpiece of the record, the song effortlessly channels the untamed, emotional energy that characterizes the album as a whole.

Comments vocalist Chaney Crabb, “‘Undone' is a dark, visceral song that’s about the confrontation of the guilt that you’ve become the person you always feared you’d be. It’s the grief of realizing that you cannot turn back time and change the things you’ve destroyed. Lyrically, it's incredibly raw and we feel that musically, it matches the lyrical content perfectly.

“We’ve wanted to experiment with more of an industrial sound for a long time and writing this song came incredibly naturally to us. Though it may be one that surprises people who listen to our band, it’s one of the most ‘true to ourselves’ songs we’ve ever written. We can’t wait to expand even more in this sonic territory.”

Empty On The Inside is the most ambitious and fully realized album of ENTHEOS‘ career. Featuring vocalist Chaney Crabb (voice actress for Jill Valentine in Dead By Daylight) and multi-instrumentalist Navene Koperweis (ex-Animals As Leaders, Animosity), alongside guitarists Scott Carstairs (Fallujah) and Michael Stancel (Allegaeon), the record captures the band at their most collaborative and creatively unified.

While earlier material often highlighted the technical brilliance of Crabb and Koperweis, this time all musicians came together as a true unit during the writing and recording process. The result is a more cohesive, focused, and dynamic album, one that still delivers the jaw-dropping musicianship, intricate performances, and progressive intensity the band is known for, while also embracing tighter songwriting, stronger hooks, and a deeper melodic presence. It’s ENTHEOS at their most refined, balancing technical mastery with memorable songwriting in a way the band never has before.

The band notes, “The album is about losing yourself in darkness, confronting that hopelessness and wondering if there's any way back to being the person you used to be.”

Empty On The Inside was produced by Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Fallujah, Whitechapel) and mastered by Justin Sturtz at Sterling Sound. The album’s striking visual artwork was created by Zac Shiffer (Nine Inch Nails, Behemoth, Soundgarden).

Empty On The Inside will be available on CD jewel case and digitally across all digital platforms, as well as LP in a gatefold jacket w/ insert in the following color variants:

The Black Dahlia Murder Will Release New Album. "Servitude", Sept. 27th Via Metal Blade Records!

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER will release their tenth studio album, Servitude, on September 27th via Metal Blade Records, today unveiling the record’s first single and preorders.

“Before the tragedy, no one ever thought this band was going to exist without Trevor.”

That’s THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER’s co-founder Brian Eschbach telling it like it is. With the tragic passing of the band’s frontman and co-founder Trevor Strnad in 2022, Eschbach, bassist Max Lavelle, drummer Alan Cassidy, and producer/guitarist Brandon Ellis were faced with a decision: Close the door on one of the most beloved death metal bands of the last twenty years, or carry on in their fallen brother’s charismatic spirit?

“Everyone that’s in the band now is someone that Trevor and I searched for,” Eschbach says. “We spent so much time on the road together that everyone understands the mission statement. We don’t really need to talk about it. We just need to make great music and try to make people happy playing it.”

After a period of profound grief and deep soul-searching, Eschbach moved from guitar to vocals, setting aside his lifelong identity as a live guitarist for the survival of the band. Former THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER member Ryan Knight returned to the fold to take Eschbach’s place on guitar. The new lineup made their debut in the band's hometown of Detroit in late October 2022 for a tribute show for Strnad.

Fast forward to right about now: THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER’s new album is the one that many would have thought impossible. Servitude marks Eschbach’s recorded debut as THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER’s lead vocalist and lyricist — and their first with Knight on guitar since 2015’s Abysmal.

“I just had to lean into it hard,” Eschbach says of approaching Servitude in a completely new role. “Honestly, writing the lyrics for this album was easier for me than writing the music for the three songs that I wrote music for. I’d pick a subject, research it, and just kinda dive in. Even though it’s not something I’d really ever done before, there was a natural flow to it once I started.”

You can hear the thrilling results on “Aftermath,” the ripping lead single, which envisions a post-apocalyptic cannibal scenario. “We wanted that one to be heard first because it’s one of the faster songs on the album, if not the fastest,” Eschbach says. “We wanted that very aggressive BLACK DAHLIA melodic death metal feel coming right at you. Lyrically, it’s about a meteor that fucks up the whole planet, but there’s still people living. Kind of like The Walking Dead, but with no zombies — so you get right to how people deal with it. And by the end, they’re eating each other.”

The members of THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER know that some will be skeptical of an album without Trevor’s inimitable presence. But many fans have already embraced the band’s decision to move forward.

“More than pressures or expectations from the fanbase, I feel their trust and support,” Ellis says. “We've always done what we do for them, and they've appreciated our consistency over the years. The global outcry following Trevor's passing has shown us how important the band's music has been to so many people, and how important it is that we continue in his honor. Under all that weight, I think we all knew what needed to be done.”

“We put in everything we had, and this is the album that felt right to make,” he adds. “I'm proud of it and proud of the five of us. You can never please everybody, but I know that this music will be a healing and positive force for those who embrace it!”

The guitars, bass, and vocals for Servitude were recorded at Ellis’ home studio in New Jersey. The drums were recorded by Mark Lewis in Nashville, Tennessee where the album was also mixed. Servitude was mastered by Ted Jensen.

Servitude will be released on digipak CD, cassette, and digital formats as well as vinyl in the following color variants and special editions:

Tech Death Band Cognitive Drop Video for the Brutal track "Insidious"!

Technical death metal quintet, COGNITIVE, is pleased to unleash their new video for “Insidious.” The rampaging new track comes by way of the band’s Abhorrence full-length, released May 17th on Metal Blade Records.

Abhorrence finds the New Jersey powerhouse at their brutal best. Once accurately championed by Kerrang Magazine for composing songs that land with “cartilage-crushing force,” Abhorrence carries on band tradition with its a maniacal fusion of relentless riffs and thoughtful, devastating lyrics making for a raging, draining, and ultimately fulfilling experience.

An exercise in aural turbulence, each track on Abhorrence takes its listener on a magnificently traumatic journey. “Our lyrics for this record are all over the place,” notes guitarist Rob Wharton. “There’s some stuff about video games and addiction and mental health. To me, that’s the kind of subject matter that hits home because everyone’s got stuff going on in their lives. It’s relatable.”

Comments Wharton on “Insidious,” “A finger-fancy opening soon leads to slam-heavy grooves and well-articulated vocals, with lyrics about addiction, and a chorus/breakdown that always comes back for more.”

COGNITIVE started work on Abhorrence while touring in support of Malevolent Thoughts Of A Hastened Extinction, sending tracks back and forth while trekking from one intense gig to the next. Drummer AJ Viana has his own studio (he’s previously worked with bands as prestigious as Hath) and recorded, tracked, and mixed the album, before Ryan Williams (The Black Dahlia Murder, John Frum) at Metal Blade Records mastered it.

COGNITIVE’s Abhorrence is available on CD and digital formats as well as vinyl in the following color variants:

Crimson Void (US retail)

Gilded Abyss (EU + US Metal Blade Webstore – Ltd. 400)

"Between Job For A Cowboy and Cattle Decapitation, COGNITIVE are in good company with Metal Blade. The quintet from New Jersey has also developed from a relatively conventional grind/deathcore band into a fiddly extreme metal hybrid that still prefers to contrast blast beats with downtempo parts, but also allows for melodies and generally values skilled craftsmanship puts. The sound is correspondingly transparent and powerful, but not soulless." -- Rock Hard Germany

"Abhorrence radiates with confidence and vision, building upon the near-perfect blend of technical-but-still-catchy death metal and hard-hitting deathcore that they've spent their career refining to a science, but also fearlessly delving into new territory by adding a pinch of melody this time around, to great effect." -- New Noise

"I suggest this release to not only fans of the death metal genre but metal fans looking for something super heavy and technically superior. This album is definitely designed to be played at eleven." -- The Metal Pit

"COGNITIVE delivered a commanding and angry record that was impressive in its musicianship, as well as its brutality. I picture this record making a lot of Best Death Metal lists of 2024. Highly recommend the record." -- This Day In Metal

"With their fifth album, the North Americans prove their impressive musical potential and actually develop some great songs from them." -- Metal.de

"...the thing just rips and rips and rips..." -- Wonderbox Metal

COGNITIVE:

Rob Wharton – guitars

Harry Lannon – guitars

Shane Jost – vocals

Tyler Capone-Vitale – bass

AJ Viana – drums

There ends the press release. As such, I wanted to mention, on a side note, that I been listening to the latest release from Cognitive, Abohorence, since the weekend. And, I just can't stop! It's heavy, brutal, and has a killer groove and is a great mix of tech death with deathcore elements. I highly recommend it. Any fellows fans of this band? Any thoughts on this single/ video?
