Cherie DeVille Sounds the Alarm on Porn’s Future in WIRED Magazine

(Los Angeles, CA / September 8, 2025) – Cherie DeVille, a 16-year veteran performer and one of adult entertainment’s most outspoken voices, is spotlighted in Jason Parham’s new WIRED feature, “The Internet Revolutionized Porn. Age Verification Could Upend Everything.”

In the article, DeVille shares her deep concern that sweeping new age-verification laws could fundamentally reshape the industry and push out the very performers who’ve thrived in the digital era. “You’re going to be at a point where if you watch free content, you have no way to know if these people are consenting or happy, and that is a terrifying way to live,” she told WIRED.

She warns that the impact won’t just hit large platforms but will devastate independent creators and niche communities that have flourished online. “It’s going to eradicate individual dotcoms. There’s no performer, no matter how rich, that can afford it. It’s unattainable. It will only leave the behemoths for us to play ball with. You’re going to lose a lot of your most interesting creators,” DeVille explained.

The result, she says, would be a homogenized industry stripped of diversity and independence: “All you’re going to be left with is the pop music of porn. And I’m not saying Taylor Swift is bad, but she’s not everybody’s cup of tea.”

Cherie DeVille Featured in ABC News Report on the Adult Industry's Battle Against Age-Verification Laws

(Los Angeles, CA / March 10, 2025) – Cherie DeVille is at the center of ABC News’ revealing report on the battle over online age-verification laws, as the Supreme Court prepares to rule on measures that could change how Americans access adult content.

The segment, “Porn Industry, Parent Groups Clash Over Online Age-Verification Laws”, spotlights DeVille’s outspoken stance on the issue, featuring her perspective on the unintended consequences of such legislation.

“This isn’t a whim or something that I’m going to do for a week. I love this job. It’s very good business for me,” DeVille told ABC News from the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas this January, pushing back against growing efforts to impose digital ID checks on adult websites.

As 19 states enact laws requiring users to upload government-issued IDs or complete biometric scans before viewing adult content, DeVille warns that these restrictions not only threaten the livelihoods of legal performers and platforms but also create a dangerous vacuum where unregulated and exploitative content flourishes.

“It’s going to be a massive amount of monetary loss, and I think you’re going to see an explosion of illegal, unethical porn because they don’t care and they won’t comply,” she said. “I do not care what you think about porn. This should terrify you because this is a massive government overstep in one of our most cherished things in the United States.”

Following ABC News’ report, DeVille reinforced her stance on the subject, emphasizing that while child safety is paramount, the proposed verification systems are deeply flawed. “If this method of age verification were truly effective, I would support it. But in reality, it’s easy to bypass, and only legal sites will comply—leaving illegal and often dangerous content as the only unrestricted option. Instead, we need a real, device-based solution that protects all children from content not meant for them, not just adult material.

“If the true goal were child safety, there would be a serious effort to implement real protections such as device-based restrictions. Instead, it’s clear this is just an attempt to eradicate the legal adult industry. Love us or hate us, but make no mistake—legislation like this puts your freedom of speech on the line.”

Cherie DeVille Featured in New Article from "The Daily Beast"

(Los Angeles, CA / August 21, 2024) -- Veteran adult performer and industry advocate Cherie DeVille is addressing the hypocrisy, erroneous commentary and selective criticisms of industry detractors in a new first-person piece for The Daily Beast.

The article, “I’m a Porn Star. This Anti-Pornhub Crusader Is Dead Wrong”, DeVille takes on the skewed narrative of anti-porn activist Laila Mickelwait and her specious claims within the pages of her book, Takedown: Inside the Fight to Shut Down Pornhub for Abuse, Rape, and Sex Trafficking.

“Mickelwait insists she just wants to stop child pornography and rape. Still, legal adult entertainers have long argued that her mission is a Trojan Horse to end the law-abiding porn industry and that Mickelwait couldn’t care less about victims,” writes DeVille, well-known to fans as ‘The Internet’s Favorite Stepmom’.

While DeVille and her current industry contemporaries can offer plenty of positive accounts of life within the law-abiding confines of the porn business, she says, “I doubt Mickelwait wants to hear from experts in the modern adult industry. And she repeatedly misrepresents how porn’s business model works.”

DeVille adds, “In the end, Mickelwait’s crusade puts the livelihoods of legal porn actors like me in jeopardy. She brags in the book about Pornhub execs losing their home insurance and bank access without acknowledging that her campaign also led banks to cancel legitimate porn performers’ accounts.

“She expresses shock that anyone would claim her campaign to get MasterCard to stop processing payments on Pornhub led directly to OnlyFans briefly banning porn. But when they did, tens of thousands of performers who depended on that platform lost their primary income source overnight. After reading her book, I doubt Mickelwait would care. If I learned one thing from Takedown, it’s that she only cares about herself.”

In New Men's Health Article: Cherie DeVille Discusses the "Zaddy" Trend

(Los Angeles, CA / June 19, 2024) -- Cherie DeVille is singing the praises of the ‘Zaddy’, the sexiest new incarnation of the ubiquitous ‘Daddy’ trend sweeping social media, in a new Men’s Health article.

Writer Zachary Zane examines the enduring fascination of this distinguished breed, described as a type of strong, strapping, older man who cuts a wide swath of  confidence. Made famous by Ty Dolla $ign’s song of the same name, Zaddy has hit peak pervasiveness via viral mediums such as TikTok’s dedicated #Zaddy channel. DeVille further clarifies:

“A zaddy is way sexier, more attractive, hip, and fashionable. A daddy is just an old guy, which appeals to younger women. Older women prefer zaddies because they’re well-cultured, well-read, and well-dressed… plus, it's just way less creepy to say zaddy in bed than daddy. It doesn't sound like you're talking about your father.”

The most important attribute, however,  of this sharp-dressed specimen, according to DeVille, is that “a zaddy knows how to fuck… a zaddy is on the prowl. He’s out there, getting hole.”
